Summary: Everything you'd expect a Blu Ray player to do EXCEPT... This player is as slow as they come. Expect at least 5 minutes to load a disc. And worst of all if you have a Mac they won't support firmware updates online and they charge you to send out the a disc with the updates when their player doesn't read the latest Blu Rays. Unbelievable. Save your half grand that they want for this player because Blu Ray's days are numbered.
Pros: When I purchased this item I was delighted with the features of the Unit but was quickly disappointed when I review other units from Panasonic. While it has a sleek design, heavy duty construction the quality stops there.
Cons: Loads extremely -s 4 or 5 minutes.Broke frequently. My unit wasn't even 1 year old or less than 100 hours service & then broke. I sent it in for Sony repair for $140 & 3 months later & 30 hours of usage broke again. Sony help center-was terr
Summary: From the beginning there were annoying delays in start-up and change. After a year the machine began to "freeze". Finally it stopped working altogether. I got the update disc from Sony to no avail.
Summary: I had the unit for 18 days and purchased from Capital Electronics, the unit has stopped working and Capital said they will not help me because they only will doing something for the first 15 days of purchase. This sucks because it was a Christmas present and now we are out $250. It sucks because when I tried contracting Sony they said I have to deal with the purchaser for the first 30 days of purchase!!!!
Cons: If you install a movie you have a 50 50 change of it loading. If it loads at all you may die of old age before it is complete. But more likely it will never load. This can be a bit embarassing when you are having people over to watch this great blu ray.
Summary: How does the company that invented (in effect) BluRay put out a player that not only refuses to play a brand new BluRay disc, but trying to do so causes the player to shut down!! If this is that that BD-Java code, then it is truly pathetic that it isn't backward compatible. I've now got to wait nigh on 2 weeks to try a firmware upgrade since I don't have the inclination to follow a 20 step program full of warnings to burn one myself. What a PoC.
Summary: The unit has countless errors and problems. There is often a several minute lag time between remote command and the units compliance. Some movies won't ever play, ever! (brand new movies). Not one movie has ever started to play in less than twenty minutes. The unit is sooo slow, I wonder if it even has a kilobyte of RAM. I know they say the "good" players take a long time. But I don't understand why it should take five minutes to turn on and open up.
