Summary: I agree, this player is slow, especially when playing Blu-Ray disc. I have BDP-S1000ES, BDP-S2000ES & DVP-S7000, therefore this one fits right in. It will be playing primarly the standard DVD and occassional Blu-Ray. The front doors on the S7000 & S500 very simular movement.
Summary: Everything you'd expect a Blu Ray player to do EXCEPT... This player is as slow as they come. Expect at least 5 minutes to load a disc. And worst of all if you have a Mac they won't support firmware updates online and they charge you to send out the a disc with the updates when their player doesn't read the latest Blu Rays. Unbelievable. Save your half grand that they want for this player because Blu Ray's days are numbered.
Summary: i got this blu ray player 2 years ago with my sony card points and i must say i have no problems at all. yes it takes a little time to load but it does not bother me. i think its an awesome machine. its a little big but it does fit into my cabinet.
Summary: I HAVE OWNED THIS UNIT FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND 1/2 NOW AND KNOW OF TWO OTHERS IN OPERATION FOR ABOUT THE SAME DURATION. THE UNIT IS SLOW TO LOAD, I'LL HAVE TO GIVE THE OTHER COMPLAINERS THAT, BUT ONCE YOU GET OVER THE INITIAL WAIT PERIOD, (GO DO SOMETHING ELSE UNTIL THE BEAST IS READY) THE OUTPUT IS FANTASTIC, BOTH BLU RAY AND STANDARD DVD UPSCALED.
Summary: From the beginning there were annoying delays in start-up and change. After a year the machine began to "freeze". Finally it stopped working altogether. I got the update disc from Sony to no avail.
Summary: I had the unit for 18 days and purchased from Capital Electronics, the unit has stopped working and Capital said they will not help me because they only will doing something for the first 15 days of purchase. This sucks because it was a Christmas present and now we are out $250. It sucks because when I tried contracting Sony they said I have to deal with the purchaser for the first 30 days of purchase!!!!
