Once it starts and connects it works fine.

Gregory A. Tomsich, Amazon
15 June 2013
  • Summary: This player sometimes has trouble starting. I play a couple of DVD's per week and about 1 out of every 10 times it won't load. Have to unplug and restart sometimes more than once to get it going. I stream from both Hulu and Netflix.

Beware No DLNA support on S380

Kenneth W. Obrien, Amazon
28 July 2011
  • Summary: I bought this to replace an S370 that was hard wired to my network and got fried in a recent lightning storm. My assumption is that it would at least have all the features of the S370. Well bad assumption.

Great Blu-ray player however the streaming needs help

Ryan, Amazon
18 April 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this to replace an older blu-ray that had trouble commuinicating with my receiver. It was first gen and I couldn't wait but it still had some bugs. So far at playing discs this has been awsome, the sound and the picture quality couldn't be better.

very straight forward budget player

Roger Massey, Amazon
4 February 2013
  • Summary: I bought this mainly for the internet capabilities (specifically LoveFilm). The player is easy to use, although the menus appear necessarily complicated. The available films on LoveFilm are different to this on-line, which is annoying.

Good player, lack of codec support.

26 September 2012
  • Summary: i bought this product so i could enjoy 720p & 1080p Blu-Ray content from it through the USB port in the back and upscale some DVD's to HD. It was a bit of a let down that it didnt play files bigger than 4GB, it happily supports NTFS but will not play some MKV's which is disappointing.

Sony Blu-ray player

  • Excerpt: II bought this item about a month ago from Amazon for £89.99 reduced from £149.00 and when reading the information online was under the impression that it would not need a dongle, even got my dad to read through it to see if I was reading it right, being a layman, however when it arrived it does...
  • Pros: connect to lovefilm to watch movies .
  • Cons: needs a network adapter costing over £50 . 00 to be wireless .

Nice DVD Player, streaming not so good ...

IanD, Amazon
14 February 2012
  • Summary: The DVD player itself is fine and the standard Sony region tweaks work on it which was a plus. The LoveFilm streaming suport is, however, not so clever. I had movies hang after an hour, others wouldn't start, it seemed to consistently fall over, lock up and require a power off/on.

Feel a bit deceived over the wi-fi connection

MentorMaster, Amazon
22 September 2011
  • Summary: Bought this for my daughter. Have not really used it enought to rate the player's quality. However one thing that I feel a little deceived over is the wi-fi connection - hence the rating. I assumed that this was already included in the blue-ray player. IT IS NOT !.

Not bad, not great either.

Whizzud "whizzud", Amazon
4 August 2011
  • Summary: A blu-ray and DVD player of reasonable quality. No major complaints as such, but... 1. All over the Internet, including the seller I purchased from, it's written that the DVD side is multi region. This was the main reason I bought it. It's not multi region. Not in the slightest.

This year's model

hogsflesh, Ciao
11 July 2011
  • Excerpt: Inevitably, there comes a time when you realise you have to see Flash Gordon in a higher definition than DVD can give you. I’ve had an HD ready telly for a few years, and now they’re cheap and have won the format war, it seemed silly not to get a Blu-Ray player. This was the model I went for.
  • Pros: Inexpensive, plays Blu - Rays and DVDs well enough
  • Cons: Menus a bit clunky, online connection slightly unreliable
