Does not come with HDMI Cable

MannyGee, Bestbuy

  • Summary: I did not enjoy the fact that I had to purchase that cable for over $50 and that was the cheap one. Then I could not return it after 15 days. Bologne.
  • Pros: Not knowing yet
  • Cons: I had to purchase an expensive cable.

  • Summary: Can't submit much of a review, since the machine only worked twice. But the setup was straight-forward (it connected easily to my wi-fi). The two blue-ray DVDs I was able to play looked and sounded great. I will avoid buying refurbished items in the future; they aren't reliable.

  • Summary: The unique physical design makes it difficult to stack with other components such as A/V Receiver. Having the control buttons on top is difficult to use if you mount it high up like over a TV. No instructions booklet came with the unit so it was somewhat difficult to set up.

Poor performer with glitches - the reviews are correct!

Paul Q, Amazon
22 July 2014
  • Summary: I should have paid attention to the Amazon reviews. I was fooled by reviews on other sites (e.g. Sony's own site). I bought this DVD player locally for almost the same price as Amazon. For the record, the first thing I did was update the firmware and all of these issues occurred after the latest firmware was installed. *There was an audible "pop" when I started a Bluray movie. It didn't occur every time but more than half of the time.

  • Summary: I took a chance buying this refurbished and I am very disappointed. It was very easy to set up and it looked nice. We turned it on and there was a line that went across the screen. We thought maybe it was the new HDMI cord that we bought so we bought a new one but it still had the line. We will be returning this Blu-ray.

Hulu Plus does not work properly. Frustrating.

backtothefuture2, Amazon
15 May 2014
  • Summary: Nice blu ray player if your only intent is to view blu rays. Netflix even works pretty well on this unit, as user friendly as a simple remote can be with Netflix. Typing in account info is time consuming, so is searching on Netflix. But the real issue - Hulu Plus is a nightmare. Every show we tried to view had some sort of issue during playback.

Unstable Network Makes This Device Unusable

Aaman Lamba "Books, Art and Life", Amazon
14 April 2014
  • Summary: The user interface and variety of choice is wonderful, but we've been experiencing continuous network issues and "Unable to play" errors with all the apps. This occurs even if we reset the device to factory settings - it is resolved temporarily but loses the connection after some time.
