Summary: Sony ITS help was a joke. Long wait times and multiple handoffs for a simple problem. If you want a cheap device to only play discs, then this is a great product. If you expect to be able to stream videos or use Netflix, do not buy. User interface is terrible, controls are awkward, and I knew more about this product than five "highly trained" customer service reps. If you want an example of how poorly this device is designed....
Summary: Let me just start off by saying that if I still had the packaging, I would absolutely be returning this blu-ray player. The quality is tremendously disappointing for such a "reputable" brand. Both fast forward and rewind DO NOT WORK. This Blu-ray player DOES NOT REMEMBER where you left off on a disc. Okay, every now and then it does (10%, maybe) even when you do exactly what the instructions say to do every single time.
Summary: POS Watched one blue ray, got half way through when the unit turned off. No power. When I unplugged the adaptor it was so hot it almost burned my hand. At least it has some sort of thermal switch and it didn't burn my house down. Needless to say it's going back.
Summary: I purchased the first on Thanksgiving, 3 days before Christmas, the picture began to cutout and the machine started to squeal/hum. Returned the item for a brand new one and immediately it began to squeal as well. Purchased a new HDMI cord just in case, but to no avail the humming did not stop. Sony informed me to return the item.
Summary: The first problem I had was that I couldn't get the player to stay powered on for more than a few seconds. I found that, for some reason, I could not have it plugged into a power bar. I had to use an extension cord to another outlet. I also had to be careful not to touch the power cord because the slightest giggle would make the player turn off.
