BDP-S300 Absolute Junk - SONY is my new four letter word
9 September 2012
Excerpt: The picture on this Blu-Ray player is beautiful, when it can play a Blu-Ray disc. I never have trouble with regular DVD's, but I can have trouble with my existing Blu-Ray collection. It also is not just newer Blu-rays. I rent 3 discs at a time from Netflix. I can have trouble with a Blu-ray released in 2008, but no trouble with the disc released 1 month ago. At first I thought it was the quality of the rental disc.
Excerpt: This is one of, if not, the first Blu-Ray players Sony came out with. I always believe that it's not the smartest idea in the world to be an early adopter of technology and this is the perfect product to prove my point. The good qualities of this machine is that it has amazing picture quality. Now for the cons. Unless you upgrade the firmware on the machine, it does not play half the Blu-Ray discs on the market. For a novice, upgrading firmware is a daunting task.
Summary: sony always good but i don't know their this blu ray player.i upgrade this almost 5times but still cannot play morden disc.why spent $300 for something that i cannot use.anytime i see it i get mad.sony needs to refound some of our money.but hey, i still like sony products.i will try their new blu ray players.thanks
Cons: Purchased for $399.99 2 yrs ago. Watched 3 movies. Purchased Avatar, won't play, keeps loading. Called Sony support, told to update firmware. Still can't watch the movie. Took to local service center, needs new drive, cost 150.00 + to repair.
Cons: They are a piece of junk and sony doesn't care one bit. I've had mine for maybe 18 months and got the NO DISC error. It won't let me upgrade the firmware and the tech support doesn't know anything. Total waste of money.
