Summary: Got it as a Christmas present. I finally got around to setting it up" we had a baby born on Christmas eve so it wasn't a priority" and it wont play DVD's. Now I am stuck because I am out of the return window.
Summary: Do yourself a favor...and spend a few minutes searching 'Sony Netflix streaming problems'. Netflix is completely unwatchable on my Sony BDP-S185. Constant buffering freezes, 0.6 to 0.8 M download speed, horrible video quality.
Summary: Refurbished and seems like new but when you start using it, it just doesn't work! I guess maybe I was the unlucky one who received a bad unit. When I tried to return it, I was told that the 30 day return period had expired and all I could do was pay $15 each way for shipping for a repair!
Summary: This unit is a piece of garbage. The first one I purchased wouldn't play DVDs or Blu-Rays--there was some kind of mechanical problem--so I had to exchange it. The one I have now plays discs properly, but the streaming is basically useless.
Summary: now totally disappointed, i will be selling this at the next garage sale. I wish Sony would answer how preventing me from backing up my own DVD's Blu-ray's is beneficial for me. the only thing Cinavia™ content protection technology dose is keep Sony's corporate greed and avarice.
Pros: I wrote the other review but am updating and adding a warning
Cons: Cinavia™ content protection technology, quite simply you can not backup your own DVD's or Blu-rays. Sony thinks this is advantageous and they actually list this as a benefit for their customers to update their Disc Player firmware.
