Mine was defective.

Call me KID, Amazon
24 July 2014
  • Summary: Finally tried it the last few days of the first month I had it, and it stuttered on playback skipping some scenes and continuing. One or two second stutter. Then I tried a different new blue ray the next day and it froze again and started but didn't lose any sceneage. I called the next day and returned it. The picture was good and playback was quick, but not sure about the freeze stopping for a second or two here and there.

CHEAP

dan, Amazon
22 June 2014
  • Summary: VERY CHEAP QUALITY.. THE THING I HATE MOST IS IF YOU STOP YOUR MOVIE, OTHER DVD PLAYERS PICK UP WHERE YOU STOPPED, BUT WITH THIS YOU HAVE TO START ALL OVER AT THE BEGINNING.. BAD FEATURE..

Amanda, Amazon
11 April 2014
  • Summary: The unit I received played Blue Ray, but failed to play DVD. Amazon's return policy is outstanding as they paid to ship it back and gave us credit.

not satisfied

fran, Amazon
25 March 2014
  • Summary: I think it was a bit deceiving because it didnt say it wasnt built with wifi and in order to use the extra features such as YouTube Pandora or Netflix u have to have a internet modem and the modem has to be near the bluray. You have to buy an extra modem if u already jave a modem for ur computer and there not near one another.

Unit works, but it does not play Blu-Ray disks that are from regions outside the USA.

Jim, Amazon
14 March 2014
  • Summary: I believe the description to be misleading; the unit does not play Blu-Ray disks from outside the USA. I spoke with customer support, and they sent me a new player, which also does not play Blu- Ray disks from outside the USA. For the curious: yes, the Blu-Ray disks do play fine in other players.

I have to give this device a low rating

Stephen Carville, Amazon
15 January 2014
  • Summary: When I originally hooked it to my TV -- a Sony Bravia -- the unit performed as advertised. It detected the TV automatically, video was sharp and clear and the response to remote commands was quick. After hooking it to my network the unit downloaded a software update and added a lot of remote service such as Amazon Video and Netflix to the home screen options. Now the response to the remote commands is sluggish -- usually needing five to six seconds between key presses.

Refuses to register you for Amazon Instant Video unless you also register your personal information with Sony.

Adam, Amazon
9 December 2013
  • Summary: The device will not issue you an access code to Amazon until you also register your name, e-mail, and, if I recall correctly, birth date with "Sony Essentials" (not just Amazon) and agree to an additional privacy policy. Also, as is the case with many registration processes, Sony makes it easy to accidentally agree to receive spam from them. In comparison, for example, Amazon Instant Video on Nintendo Wii has no such requirement.

Open/close button jammed after a few weeks. Audio out only via HDMI cable.

grumpy, Amazon
7 December 2013
  • Summary: A basic basic Blu-ray disc player with wired internet access. Also accesses files on thumb drives. After a few weeks, the open/close button got jammed or something. Now the tray can only be accessed by use of remote control. No direct audio out. The audio accessed only by HDMI cable. This means that my stereo audio system can only access audio from the audio out from the television that we attached this player too.
