Summary: Stopped reading discs after 2 years of use... no matter what format i put it it says there is no disc in the drive. has always been slow loading blu-ray, I'm guessing because of the adds over wifi. For a player this expensive, you'd think it would last longer.
Been using this for a couple of years without a problem

Summary: I have been using this Blu Ray player for a couple of years and have not had any problems with it at all. Still plays all current Blu Ray disks and have not experienced problems with pausing etc..
Summary: This is a VERY QUALITY player but by some people's standards, obsolete. That depends. I have an older Sony 5.1 surround sound home theatre system in an RV. It does not have HDMI or digital connections. I wanted a Blu-ray player that would hook up to that system which limited my choices. This one had the physical hookup requirements I needed.
Summary: !WARNING: Sony BDPS1000ES Blu-ray Disc Player Do not buy any products from this disgraceful, arrogant, insensitive, dishonest manufacturer. It really deserves 0! stars. My Sony Blu-ray Player, bought on 12/8/08, was working fine. A few days ago (12/11/10) I downloaded from Sony esupport website the x021 firmware update for this player. I followed all instructions to the letter, and created a CD-R update disc.
Summary: This dvd player has won me over, in the past few years I have stayed away from sony Blueray players due to the performance levels.I read all the reviews on this player and took a chance, I found one on 11-26-10 at best buy($69 open box)jumped on.the price.I'm comparing it to a denon 2500 and a pioneer 51FD,the Denon has the better sound but as for the picture on the Sony, it is on par with the Denon.
Summary: Sony ES products are among the best. I bought this player primarily for audio. All I can say is there's no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a high end CD player, when you can have the best of both worlds. Audio and video. The sound is pure and focused. No shrill. Great dynamics. Very controlled. The video is incredibly vivid, yet easy on the eyes. A Sony ES machine at this price is a truly a steal.
Summary: This is my 1st Blu Ray player and I bought it because it's an ES, comes with 5yr warranty, and has quite glowing review based on the picture and sound qualities, and to that extent this unit does not disappoint. Setup was not that difficult, and setting up wireless was not that bad. It saw my routers, and I connected it to my Netgear WNR3500. Connection was stable.
Summary: Overall this is a great player but it does have a flaw. For some people this could be a significant flaw. On DVD playback the video will completely go away for a few seconds and then come back on again randomly throughout the movie. I noticed that when this happens the "HDMI" readout on the front of the player goes out. I don't have any component cables to try, but I should not have to, it should work using HDMI.
Summary: Replaced another BluRay player with this SONY. Since it is an outgoing model the price was down to $179. At this price this is an excellent player. The picture is flawless on my 8ft projection screen, the sound impressive (for movie sound - I have not done an evaluation as an audiophile music player). Set-up is easy, even the WLAN connection worked within seconds and allowed the player to do a firmware update without any trouble.
Summary: This is what you can call one of the best. The picture is outstanding, the sound is remarkable, and the setup was nothing short of easy. The unit looks great and I now have the Sony to go along with my Panasonic BD A35 player. I had bought the Sony N460, but saw this available for a clearance price of $ 99!! Needless to say I took the N460 back and bought the BDPS1000ES, and I am glad I did. I don't care about the streaming so this player fits what I wanted.......
