Summary: I had this dvd player for over a year and it worked fine. The other day I put a movie in and it would not play it so I updated the firmware. Now when you turn it on it says sys err. It is not worth fixing so my advice is do not buy this dvd player.
Summary: This is a caution to those thinking about purchasing this blu ray player. Just like every other negative on this player, my particular unit didn't want to play a blu ray disk I bought from Amazon. It worked really well for the last 2 years up until now.
Does not play many region-free discs. Also gets confused.

Summary: It is easy to buy a region-A or region-free disc or series from BBCAmerica.com or Amazon.com that is supposed to play in North America (and thus carries no warning, unlike Region 2 DVD's) but will not play on the Sony BDP-BX2.
Summary: This product worked well for about a year until one day I put in a new Netflix disk without first turning on the TV. Apparently the player did not get the HDMI HDCP code it wanted at start-up and subsequently decided it no longer liked my TV.
Good luck with streaming video on the Sony Blu-ray Disc Player

Summary: I needed a new DVD player so I bought a Sony Blu-ray 3D disc player with built-in wifi for $180. It played DVDs satisfactorily, but when trying to watch Netflex or any other streaming videos it continuously would pause and start buffering, often taking five to ten minutes to load just a few more...
Summary: No eject button on the remote. Bought new movie (The Tourist, non blu ray) and it would not play. Rented "Secretariat" in blu ray, and finally would play after several attempts. After reading reviews about updating firmware, I am not confident it will fix these issues and only make it worse.
Summary: Overall the unit is good; picture and sound fine. Able to play all my DVD movies as well as Blu-ray. My gripes are these: 1. Had a devil of a time making a photo DVD that would play. After many tries and wasted DVDs, I finally found that only DVD-R would work.
