Summary: After upgrading my laptop to a tablet pc I didn't have an optical drive so bought this one while it was cheaper than most and put it in a usb caddy. Haven't had any problems or drop in write speed at all whilst burning to 50gb bluray disks.
Summary: I fitted this Blu Ray drive to my Sony VAIO as a replacement for the factory fitted DVD drive. Fitting was easy on the VAIO just one screw to remove, marked with three dots. You do need Blu Ray player software if you don't have it installed, Win7 DOES NOT have one. As mentioned in a earlier review,CyberLink is tops a really excellent player, but pricey!
Summary: I bought this awesome Blu-Ray writer about one year ago for my ASUS G73SW laptop. I've used it to play and copy Blu-Ray movies to my hard drive. It hasn't let me me down yet. The only thing that made me disappointed is that you get no software for Blu-Ray playback on your PC, which means you need to spend more money to be able to watch movies.
Summary: Fitted this in my Sony Vaio VPCF12MOE replace the blue ray reader that came with the unit took around 15 minutes to change. Rebooted computer had no trouble in loading drivers. All is working fine it plays the blu rays that the other drive would not. It arrived in a few days well packaged.
Summary: Fitted this Sony BD-5750H-01 to my Asus X5DIJ laptop which had a very poor DVD-RW drive fitted that refused to write to dual layer DVD discs and was very slow at reading anything throw at it. The drive was very quick and easy to fit, I transferred the fascia from the OEM drive to the Sony, again with no problems. Booted up the laptop and Windows 7 recognized the drive and installed the relevant drivers for it.
Summary: This is an OEM drive, so don't expect a fancy printed box with freebie software and manuals. I purchased this drive to replace my DVD-RW drive that came as standard in my laptop (ASUS P52F series, Intel i5 / Windows7 64bit). I swapped the bezels and brackets around with no issues, placed it back in my laptop and turned it on. My laptop recognised the drive along with reading and writing any disc format thrown at it. What can I say, it does exactly what it says.
