Update the program version.

  • Summary: In spite of the lackluster reviews above I bought the BD-HP70U to go with my Sharp LC-46LE700UN Aquos set. While I agree setting up the WiFi was unwieldy, and it takes one or two tries to access Netflix, I haven't had any of the lockups or freezes mentioned by the other reviewers, and the picture looks great in 1080p.

Not good at all.

  • Summary: When I first bought this product my wife and I were disappointed at the load times. Certain Blu Ray disks can take up to 5 minutes or more to load. It works well with normal DVDs. However - a few nights ago after about three weeks of use it started to cut off Netflix every 10 minutes or so. It just disconnects from the WiFi and will not re-connect until you have powered it off and then on again. The power off can take up to 8 minutes or more. This is ridiculous.

Clumsy Blu-Ray Player

Randy T. Wells, Amazon
8 December 2011
  • Summary: I purchased a Sharp BD-HP70U blu-ray player for use with a Sharp Aquos LCD TV. It has several of the features that I wanted including blu-ray, WiFi, Netflix and Youtube. I opted for Sharp in hopes for maximum remote compatibility. However, remote Compatibility between the TV and BD-HP70U is minimal. There are lots of mysterious buttons on the BD-HP70U remote that are not described in the manual and don't appear to do anything.

Flagship & High-end?

  • Summary: First things first. This review comes several months after the purchase. I wanted to wait and see if Sharp would tend to and rectify one of the issues I was having with the WiFi connectivity, or I should say, the lack thereof. The PRIMARY reason for me purchasing this particular model was to mate it to my Sharp LC-32LE700UN HDTV, AND for the SUPPOSED availability of wireless internet connectivity, mainly for automatic software and/or firmware updates, with the slim...

I'm underwhelmed

K. Eriksen, Amazon
21 October 2010
  • Summary: I was really expecting a top-notch blu-ray player but it's mediocre at best. Bought it to take advantage of the WiFi so I wouldn't have to run more cables but the connection is spotty. While I can't rule out my router or ISP, every other WiFi product I have works fine! Player freezes regularly and you have to actually unplug it because it won't reset or turn off. Seller was fine though. Order shipped quickly and arrived without any damage.
