Sharp BD-HP52U

PC Magazine
14 August 2010
  • Conclusion: The Sharp BD-HP52U Blu-ray player delivers an excellent Blu-ray picture and does a good job of upconverting standard-definition DVDs, but it lacks some of the features that you get with less-expensive players.
  • Pros: Solid HD image quality. Good SD-upconversion quality. Well-designed remote. Excellent Sharp Aquos HDTV integration.
  • Cons: Expensive. Limited features. Slow load times. No front-accessible USB port. Lacks integrated Wi-Fi.

Sharp BD-HP52U AQUOS Blu-ray Player Review

25 February 2010
  • Conclusion: Hey Sharp, 2006 called and it wants its Blu-ray player back! Seriously though, we expect a lot from the name Sharp. The BD-HP52U will be the first player in the manufacturer's lineup to stream Netflix, and it's one of their first to support BD-Live (with the addition of a USB thumb drive).
  • Pros: Excellent audio/video performance, Netflix is coming soon (March 5), AQUOS Link Support, No-nonsense remote
  • Cons: High list price, No internal storage, RSS feed is a waste of time, Slow boot and disc-loading times
