Summary: I bought this under the assumption that I would be able to use apps, and allow me to use my "Plasma TV" as close to a "Smart TV" as possible. Sadly enough, when I tried to load "YouTube", it said that it was unavailable. It offered no way of updating it to use "YouTube", and many other apps. I've scoured the web, looking for solutions to this, but to date have found nothing.
Summary: I have invested heavily over the years in Sharp technology from Large screen TVs, Sound Bar and DVD player. Decided to update my current Sharp DVD player to a newer version. The latest technology uses 3D capabilities that the current TV does not handle so decided to look at earlier models. The BDHP25U fitted the bill foe price versus performance and compatibility with existing system. The product work great.
Summary: It's worked fine for the first 6 months. Bought the Hobbit 3D and it does not recognize the 1st disk. Took the movie back and exchanged it for another one - will not play the first disc either. Plays the 2nd one fine. Tried to upload the latest firmware which was a hassle from a thumb drive and it would not recognize it. Got another thumb drive and it said there was nothing on it. Spent a whole afternoon - completely wasted a nice day.
Summary: This Blu-ray player is a real entertainment hub! It's even 3D capable! I love that it is wireless, it does all of its updates automatically. Also, unlike the old BD models, its tray opens very quickly. This unit is great quality. It comes with a Netflix interface, the ONLY issue I have with it is that it doesn't also come with Hulu Plus. I understand that every company can't work together but every other wireless capable device comes with Hulu nowadays!
Summary: This has been great but did not play 3d movies at first so I had to send it back to sharp then they fixed it and it looks beautiful I love it it look like it is coming at you .It took forever to get new firmware on it had to buy a flash drive tried that it would only download 10%. Sharp sent a flash drive it would not work. Bought a lan -adapter it worked but as I said the 3D would not go past 1 on counter sent it in they reset it now everything works.
