Summary: I've had this model since buying it 3 years ago pre-black Friday. It's worked perfectly fine. Yes, it's slow as molasses, but it was a budget player when it was released, back when even expensive players were slow. Netflix was a problem at times, often losing the connection during shows, but a quick restart of the box fixed it. Honestly, if you found one of these at a flea market for $20, it would not than pay for itself.
Summary: Worked well for a few months, now won't play newer blu-ray discs. It seems, from reading dozens of customer reviews and chat sites devoted to this product, to be a compatibility issue with the newer blu-ray discs and, Sharp seems unwilling to provide the needed firmware upgrade to resolve the issue. I feel like I've been robbed and will never purchase another Sharp product!!!!
Summary: Too bad I have to give it a star. Would prefer zero. I guess it's fine if you don't want to play blu-ray disks (the ones I tried play on my PS3 but this unit actually says they won't play without an update). I did go to some trouble to get the latest firmware update which didn't help. You can play regular DVDs on it if you want. But the user interface sucks and is ugly. And it is slow to respond to commands. And it hangs a lot.
Summary: I bought it for one reason, on sale. I should have reviewed and searched it on line prior to purchasing. It looks good cosmetically, that's about it. It is the slowest functioning DVD player I have ever owned, takes too much time to search, next chapters, freezes. The remote control malfunctioned after a year, (Not the battery). I do not recommend this product, unless it was given to you for free. I never tried the LAN feature.
Summary: I have never been so frustrated with a product. I have all the latest firmware etc but this stupid thing still will not play any of my newly purchased Blu-Ray disks. I have searched all over the internet for fixes for what ever the problem is but it just doesnt work. I bought it from QVC a while back. Money wasted! I cannot believe a company like SHARP would produce such a product. Get out of the Blue Ray business SHARP, you just lost a customer.

Summary: This Sharp Blu Ray player will not consistently play Blu Ray disks, and does just okay on DVDs. The Netflix option works, but just barely and only access the instant que, and does not get the sub-menus. So if you are looking for a cheap DVD player that can do basic Netflix, this will possible be only adequate. But look elsewhere, for this Sharp player is not good quality and does not perform as expected.
Summary: I have owned this blue ray player for a little over one year, and work so so through out the year, two weeks ago the player after a firmware update decides not to play any of my blue ray disk calling them incompatible disk so my $100 Blue ray was reduced to being a dvd player. I called Sharp customer service which was no help what so ever, they said that they would service the machine at a cost to me, wait a minute their firmware update caused the error and now I have to...
Summary: This is my second Sharp Blu-Ray player. I always give manufacturers a second shot and with Sharp's caliber of LCDs I thought they diserved it. Boy have I regretted that decision, now I have two BD players that are buggy, skip terribly an have ridiculous load times. Like previous posters stated, this line of players have cost me many a good movie nights. It has also cost Sharp a customer for life.
Summary: Just hooked up this player. from reading previous reviews the first thing i did was update the firmware! it is hooked up to a sharp lc46le830u TV. it works great. the internet also works fine. i have no compliants. the price was cheap. i was glad i took the time to read all the reviews because this unit do not get great reviews on amazon but the one that sticks in my mind is the one that said update the firmware!!
