Summary: I have four (4) SHARP TVs. I love the color and the clarity. They have been very dependable. I wanted a SHARP Blue Ray Disc Player to hook up to my Main 70" TV. I have found that it works fine and you get great sound and picture but it is slow, very slow to react to commands from the remote. I also find it hard to read the lighted panel as the digits and letters are too small. I was kind of disappointed overall in the product.
Summary: I was told sharps blue ray wasn't that great but that the remote would work better with my Aqous TV than any other would. Well it seems to work perfectly and yes, the remote also controls most of the tv as well! Win Win!
Summary: After experiencing the frustration of not being able to play newer blu-ray DVDs as well as reading the poor reviews posted, I went to Sharp's website & used the info to do a firmware update at [...] Download the update and instructions & then follow the instructions verbatim. This newer version works great for my player and now I'm glad I didn't junk it after owning it for a couple or more years.
Summary: A very nice looking unit, but don't let the looks fool you. This thing is literally a turd. And no matter how many times you dust it and polish it up with firmware updates, it's still a turd. If you are lucky enough to get this monstrosity to play a blu-ray disc, calmly walk away and don't look it in the eye. Save your money and buy something else. This thing is unplugged and sitting on my kitchen counter going in the dumpster first thing in the morning.

Summary: EXACTLY and I/we are being extremely polite about this fiasco. SO some functions will not work unless you grab the manual and spend a few hours reviewing WHAT you could possibly have done wrong .. THIS imported piece of trash whirrls, clicks, winks and finally delivers ... I'll probably be driven back to Bette Ford by this "marvel" - please donot waste your time .... UNLESS you would like to join me on line pulverising this in public ....
Summary: The title speaks for itself sharp is what it is, I have a 52 inch LCD tv and it goes together nicely it is easy to use and has the bd live function, since then I purchased a Sharp home theater 5.1 surround sound and moved this one upstairs to our other sharp tv, yes, SHARP IS WHAT IT IS !
Summary: This blu-ray player (Sharp Aquos BD-HP22U) is extremely slow to respond to anything. Do not make the mistake of turning it off with a disc in it. It takes a good 3-5 minutes to turn on unless you leave it on standby (solid red light). If you leave a disc in the player, turning it on will stretch into 5 minutes or more while it also needs to load a disc inside.
Summary: This is actually a very good player...wonderful picture. But, it does require a firmware update...which is not as easy as one would like. [...] On the right, select BLU RAY player...and under select download "any." The player comes with a USB drive - you need this! Save the update for the BD-HP22U to your COMPUTER. Follow the directions and EXTRACT it to the USB thumb drive. You put the drive back into the BR player and click on settings and "software Update.
