Summary: This is a horrible Blu-Ray player. Did not play most of the formats it was suppoesed to play. Very slow! Problems with palying Blu-Rays (and yes I did install the latest firmware), normal DVD's, R+/R-.... Worked ok for music only CD's. The Blu-Ray player did break after 3 1/2 month! I would not recommend buying this product.
Summary: Last Christmas I received this unit as a gift. The two blu-ray movies inluded as part of my gift were not playable. About half of the Netflix blu-ray disks take about 5 to 10 minutes to load and most are not playable. I have upgraded the firmware so many times and now it is no longer supported by Sharp The unit is now 10 months old! About 10% of the netflix DVD non blu ray movies are unplayable.
Summary: I am very unhappy with Bluray. I got the Sharp Aquos TV and matching player and they won't play about 20 percent of the movies I want to watch including Avatar. Apparently I am supposed to "update the firmware"! Well I don't have the internet at home. Very disappointed with Bluray and Sharp for selling me a system which is already obselete.
Summary: First of all, this device is no longer supported by Sharp. Meaning their firmware updates (which seem to be required constantly) are spotty. The last one was months ago, and I just dropped in a new BluRay disc, got all the way through the trailers, and watched a black screen for minutes on end as the disc refused to load. No firmware update. No sense of what the problem is. That's not to say it's usually anything but slow. This is a PAINFULLY slow BluRay player.
Summary: I received this unit through a special purchase at a non-Amazon dealer and I am extremely unhappy with it. I bought the Blu-Ray release of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse which has forced trailers at the beginning as many discs do now. The Menu button doesn't work during the trailers but I can press NEXT to skip to the next trailer once the current one starts playing.
Summary: just a lousy product. updates don't make it better. I returned mine for service, all they did was 'update firmware' and return it as defective as before. to sell defective products, and back them up with defective service, is unacceptable. there are many complaints about this item. sharp needs to recall these things.
Summary: i know it's new technology, but it's not THAT new. i've just run into the second bluray disc from 20th century fox that this player won't play. firmware upgrade was a waste of my time. would also be nice if the player kept your place in the movie when you power down.
Summary: Wow I am shocked they'd put such a bad product into the market. Nearly every disc -- even ones with no visual scratches or smudges at all -- skips. Frequent freezes and resets. Excrutiatingly slow. I'm using a 21st century product, the most modern possible thing to play movies on, yet somehow I feel like the guy who plugged his first TV in in the 1940's slamming it on the side to get an image. Shame on Sharp.
