Summary: I purchase this player in April 2011. This player plays every Bluray movie I rented. When I recieved the player I imediately updated the firmware from Sharps website. You must do this or newer Blurays will not play.
Summary: This is a horrible Blu-Ray player. Did not play most of the formats it was suppoesed to play. Very slow! Problems with palying Blu-Rays (and yes I did install the latest firmware), normal DVD's, R+/R-.... Worked ok for music only CD's. The Blu-Ray player did break after 3 1/2 month! I would not recommend buying this product.
Summary: Last Christmas I received this unit as a gift. The two blu-ray movies inluded as part of my gift were not playable. About half of the Netflix blu-ray disks take about 5 to 10 minutes to load and most are not playable. I have upgraded the firmware so many times and now it is no longer supported by Sharp The unit is now 10 months old! About 10% of the netflix DVD non blu ray movies are unplayable.
Summary: I am very unhappy with Bluray. I got the Sharp Aquos TV and matching player and they won't play about 20 percent of the movies I want to watch including Avatar. Apparently I am supposed to "update the firmware"! Well I don't have the internet at home. Very disappointed with Bluray and Sharp for selling me a system which is already obselete.
Summary: First of all, this device is no longer supported by Sharp. Meaning their firmware updates (which seem to be required constantly) are spotty. The last one was months ago, and I just dropped in a new BluRay disc, got all the way through the trailers, and watched a black screen for minutes on end as the disc refused to load. No firmware update. No sense of what the problem is. That's not to say it's usually anything but slow. This is a PAINFULLY slow BluRay player.
Summary: This blu-ray player has been nothing but a nightmare since I got it. I'm constantly checking for software updates as it has trouble playing most discs I rent. The main error I recieve is 'Incompatible Disk'. Sometimes it just stops reading the disk at during the movie and won't continue, but the same disks play perfect in our Play Station 3. The player responds slowly to commands and causes the operator a great deal of frustration.
Summary: Here it is April 26, 2010 and I have downloaded the latest software update from [...] which is actually the download for the BDHD22U machine PF9120100 and Avatar Blu Ray version still will NOT load or play. Dang you Sharp... my friends P3P player will play it their 1 year old Sony Blu Ray will play it.. but your machine won't & its not a bad disc, I took my disc to their house...
Summary: At first I was a little concerned because it didn't play Fargo (the first movie I tried). I read up on it and downloaded the software update, after that everything has played smoothly. The player took a long time to read the discs at first but after the update it reads twice as fast. Great picture and sound although a little quiet. Big player but doesn't bother me. Overall a great product for me.
Summary: It took one month to deliver this dvd player. I dunno if it was a screw up in the shipping database or what but I will not count this towards my opinion on this item. This player is really slow, and one in every five discs that I put in, it makes this constant repetitively loud clicking sound that does not stop unless you plug it off and on again. Picture quality is great and so far it has played all of my normal dvd's and 2-3 blue rays. Average at best.
