Summary: This is a horrible Blu-Ray player. Did not play most of the formats it was suppoesed to play. Very slow! Problems with palying Blu-Rays (and yes I did install the latest firmware), normal DVD's, R+/R-.... Worked ok for music only CD's. The Blu-Ray player did break after 3 1/2 month! I would not recommend buying this product.
Summary: Last Christmas I received this unit as a gift. The two blu-ray movies inluded as part of my gift were not playable. About half of the Netflix blu-ray disks take about 5 to 10 minutes to load and most are not playable. I have upgraded the firmware so many times and now it is no longer supported by Sharp The unit is now 10 months old! About 10% of the netflix DVD non blu ray movies are unplayable.
Summary: I am very unhappy with Bluray. I got the Sharp Aquos TV and matching player and they won't play about 20 percent of the movies I want to watch including Avatar. Apparently I am supposed to "update the firmware"! Well I don't have the internet at home. Very disappointed with Bluray and Sharp for selling me a system which is already obselete.
Summary: First of all, this device is no longer supported by Sharp. Meaning their firmware updates (which seem to be required constantly) are spotty. The last one was months ago, and I just dropped in a new BluRay disc, got all the way through the trailers, and watched a black screen for minutes on end as the disc refused to load. No firmware update. No sense of what the problem is. That's not to say it's usually anything but slow. This is a PAINFULLY slow BluRay player.
Summary: At first I was a little concerned because it didn't play Fargo (the first movie I tried). I read up on it and downloaded the software update, after that everything has played smoothly. The player took a long time to read the discs at first but after the update it reads twice as fast. Great picture and sound although a little quiet. Big player but doesn't bother me. Overall a great product for me.
Summary: It took one month to deliver this dvd player. I dunno if it was a screw up in the shipping database or what but I will not count this towards my opinion on this item. This player is really slow, and one in every five discs that I put in, it makes this constant repetitively loud clicking sound that does not stop unless you plug it off and on again. Picture quality is great and so far it has played all of my normal dvd's and 2-3 blue rays. Average at best.
Summary: Since this a entry level blu-ray player, I read up on all of the positives and negatives of this model. The first couple of blu=rays I bought- no problem. Then I tried the T2-Skynet Edition and it wouldn't play. After downloading the firmware update from the Sharp website, though, and installing it in the player-no issues. It also brings a real crispness and clarity to my standard dvds. Avery good buy, for the money.
Summary: I received this unit through a special purchase at a non-Amazon dealer and I am extremely unhappy with it. I bought the Blu-Ray release of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse which has forced trailers at the beginning as many discs do now. The Menu button doesn't work during the trailers but I can press NEXT to skip to the next trailer once the current one starts playing.
Summary: I bought this product during the '08 "black friday" shopping season. I feel confident enough to leave useful feedback. First off, when the blu ray player works, the display and sound are awesome, even with traditional dvds. Sometimes even the traditional dvds can be mistaken for blu ray quality. However, there were several movies (usually 1 out of every 3 blu ray discs that I attempted to play)that would freeze and become pixelated. This was extremely annoying!
