Sharp BlueRay player

Overstock
22 May 2009
  • Summary: received the dvd player really quick in the mail, was very happy with the savings and quality of this product. The only negative thing I have to say is that it takes almost 2 minutes for this BlueRay player to read BlueRay discs and almost 5 minutes to read regular DVD's before actually seeing...

Sharp Aquos BDHP20U 1080p Blu-Ray Disc Player

Hikenstick, Rate it all!
11 November 2008
  • Summary: This is a very slow operating player. When first turned on it takes a full 45 seconds to initialize. When a disc is inserted it takes another 30 seconds to figure out what type of media it is playing. While it is "changing gears", you see static, good old black and white no signal type of static...

Solid performing blu-ray player

Y. Lee, Amazon
4 October 2008
  • Summary: This review is for the BD-HP20X which is essentially the same as the HP20U but is the localised Australian variant. I took a plunge on this player after seeing it advertised for an irresistibly low price through an internet mail-order vendor.

27 March 2008
  • Summary: This once it starts has a wonderful picture, There in lye's the problem it takes 1 to 4 minutes to load the movie. Sometimes even DVDs take awhile. I do not understand why this is. I think they will fix this problem with ram or something like that.

You get what you pay for

D. G. K., Amazon
24 March 2008
  • Summary: I bought this product when it was still unclear which format would win out and I didn't want to waste too much money. I was deciding between this and the panasonic. Ultimately the decision came down to price and the fact that the panasonic had no onboard audio decoding meaning that I would need a...

For Blu-ray discs only

Coogs, Amazon
28 February 2008
  • Summary: First, the positive. Blu-ray discs produce a dazzling picture. That alone is enough to get three stars out of me. If you plan to use this exclusively for Blu-ray movies, you should be okay. But there are numerous negatives to consider before you use this unit for anything other than Blu-ray discs.

OK for DVDs buy DOES NOT PLAY CDs!

A. Abernathy, Amazon
1 January 2008
  • Summary: This is my first Blu-ray player, so I have nothing else to compare it to, but I can see why my local a/v dealer warned me that Blu-ray (and HD DVD) players are still not quite ready for primetime....
