Summary: We purchased the BDHP20U as part of a package deal with the HDTV. Our first player would lock up within the first minute of loading any movie. I returned the unit to Best Buy thinking I was unlucky with the first unit.
Summary: This has to be one of the worst purchases I've made in recent memory. Claims to have Quick Start functionality but this only applies if the movie has already been pre-loaded and the machine is waiting on standby, which is useless unless youre going to watch the same movie continuously.
Summary: Won't play several movies. Firmware updates have been non-existent, customer service is useless. I will NEVER buy another product from Sharp ever again. Absolute garbage. Stay as far away from this company as possible.
Summary: I have had this for about a year with minimal problems. I picked up a Blu Ray copy of Young Frankenstein but it will not play anything but the title screen. Sharp has not released a new firmware update to make this and a few other titles playable.
Summary: I had trouble ejecting dvds It played for a week, now its at the Sharp repair center, going on two weeks! I was thinking they would send a new one. I'm thinking I got a bad one and they can fix it.
Pros: the audio is great!
Cons: The software for this players is poop at best. When you push eject, it should over ride all and eject but it doesn't!
WHAT A JOKE! But it's not funny..........UPDATE on 12-23-08

Summary: Same story here as the rest of these reviews. This Sharp piece-of-stool worked for about one day, then wouldn't play the same BD that I just played the nite before. Gives me an "incompatible disc" error after 2 minutes of reading the disc.
Summary: I ordered a Sharp Aquos TV and the Sharp Aquos Blu-Ray player to go with it. After they were delivered and set-up, it was with great anticipation that I put in one of the two Blu-Ray movies I had purchased. After nearly two minutes of "Reading Disk", I received an "Incompatible Disk" message.
Summary: Bought this for Christmas, my first BD player. Could not get it to play a BD, nothing but 'Reading Disk'. Tried to work with Sharp, was that ever a bad experience. After three weeks of trying to figure out the problem and concluding that the player was defective, they wanted to replace it with a...
