Summary: Bottom line up front: if you're looking for a new BD player, you're probably not even considering this one since it's way out of date; this review is more of a rant/vent for me. We bought this BD-DVD player in 2008, when Blu-ray players were still fairly expensive, because 1) it had fairly good...
Summary: I've owned this unit for about 1.5 years. It's been swapped out twice, and continues to have problems (now, playback pauses and restarts). It is no longer listed on their web site, there are no firmware upgrades, and you can no longer reach tech support for it by phone.
Summary: We purchased the BDHP20U as part of a package deal with the HDTV. Our first player would lock up within the first minute of loading any movie. I returned the unit to Best Buy thinking I was unlucky with the first unit.
Summary: I've had this player for almost a year, and I must say its the worst performing electronics item I've ever purchased. Not only are the updates confusing, the instructions compound the problem even more. I wouldnt take another one of these if they were free. Sorry I'm unable to give ZERO stars.
Do not buy a Sharp Blu Ray player if you plan on watching new movies since updated firmware may never come

Summary: I have had this for about a year with minimal problems. I picked up a Blu Ray copy of Young Frankenstein but it will not play anything but the title screen. Sharp has not released a new firmware update to make this and a few other titles playable.
WHAT A JOKE! But it's not funny..........UPDATE on 12-23-08

Summary: I picked up the BDHP20U just under three months ago from Sixth Ave Elec. I had to hook it up via Component cables since my Mitsu 73 inch TV did not have HDMI. The unit was a bit quirky/glitchy but nonetheless, delivering a pretty nice picture considering the above mentioned.
Summary: I bought this Sharp Aquos BD Player @ Best Buy and I'm waiting for two and a half weeks to get it back while "the Geek Squad" tries to fix it. Now reading all this reviews I wonder...Why would Sharp release a product that works an average of three times out of ten you try to use it?
Sharp BDHP20 Blu Ray, be careful it's not all good !

Summary: I purchased unit from local PC Richard & Sons in Brooklyn NY. Within 2 weeks, while playing regular DVD, or trying to play it, it refused to play and would not eject DVD. Tried everything including doing a reset advised by Sharp Cust. service.
