Summary: Well this sucks. I ordered this dual format Blu-ray/Hd-dvd player only to find out it does not play Blu-ray. It will not recognize those discs. Of course that company I bought this from never said that.
I'll never buy another Samsung product after this experience

Summary: I purchased this combo player in April 2008 when Toshiba announced that HD-DVD would no longer be supported so that I would have a player for both Bluray and my existing HD-DVD collection. I moved my existing Toshiba HD-DVD player to my bedroom and set up this player in the living room.
Summary: Samsung BD-UP5000 1080p HD-DVD Blu-Ray Disc Combo Player This DVD Combo player is what every movie fan should have, If you don't know what Blue-ray or HD is go to your nearest Electronic store and see for your self. The bigger the T.V. the better the experience, my whole family loves this player.
Summary: Unit failed after three months, was repaired, failed again. Samsung service now says the unit is unrepairable, they have no more units with which to replace it, and offer a $399 unit which will not play HD discs as replacement.
Summary: I went from the Toshiba 3 HD DVD system to this one, keeping the Toshiba as a back up for HD DVDs and I could not be happier with this system. I've only been using it for about a month, but the quality of play is excellent, the start up time for the machine is faster than the Toshiba, and I have had...
Summary: Samsung BD-UP5000 1080p HD-DVD Blu-Ray Disc Combo Player This is the Samsung combo HD DVD/Blu-ray Disc player released earlier (and since discontinued, as I understand it). When it was introduced, it bowed to glowing reviews about its video performance, but general dismay about its limited advanced...
Summary: Thanks to the latest firmware update, those earlier criticisms about the unit's audio limitations have been overtaken by events. Virtually overnight, the BD-UP5000 has gone from flawed product to one of the best-performing hi def players on the market.
Summary: I use this player and so far it works very well. I do have to "reboot" it from time to time for some reason but that's no different than the Sony BDP-S300 and the Toshiba HD-A35 players I have in the other room.
Summary: I bought this player because I had started to build my HD-DVD library quickly and I refused to buy a Sony after their suspicious back room deals with the movie studios. A problem I experienced with my Toshiba HD-DVD players (yes, plural) was that standard audio CD's would not play well and would...
