Summary: I bought this not wanting to spare any expense, just wanted a good Blu-ray player that would also play Divx, xvid, and mkv files, and being such an expensive player I assumed this one would do a good job. Wrong. Having owned it for about 10 months, and having kept it updated with any firmware upgrades (in hopes that the bugs and annoyances would be fixed), it's finally frozen up completely. How could such a thing happen to this top-of-the-line player?
Summary: I was very excited after I ordered the BD-P4600 player, only to be extremely disappointed in this unit!! I have a Samsung 46" LCD TV, that I'm extremely happy with, and, a Samsung HD camcorder that I'm pleased with for the price.. I purchased both from Amazon.. When I first got the unit up and running and tried Netflix and Pandora, I thought "What a GREAT machine", but after trying to play a regular DVD, the disappointment in this machine began..
Summary: I am not an electronics sophisticate, although I enjoy and use my gadgets. I bought this item for instant netflix downloading, and it was a snap to set up (had it two weeks and have not even cracked open the manual). I use wireless; downloads very quickly. Picture quality is okay, but the flicks I'm downloading are not HD. The HD blu ray discs I have tried were phenomenal. No downside yet. Does what I want it to do, and it's not some ugly box cluttering up my cabinet.
Summary: I like the design of the player, and for playing Blue Ray disks, it seems to work fine. Although my Blue Ray library is still pretty limited. Sadly, I'm less than happy with the players ability to play DVDs. Several of my DVDs will not play in this unit. It claims the "Disk is unreadable" and ejects it. Even though the disk plays fine in other players. So beware if you have a large DVD collection. Some may not play.
Cons: Can not use wireless connection, technical support weak (reads from manual) - can only wait for Tech 3 call back - sit by your phone for days??? Even connected with LAN, you must turn off power to reconnect.
Cons: No firmware to fix problems with playback issues. Does not play some blu-rays correctly and It should. They have had time to work the play issues out this thing. Star Trek Original series season one blu-ray is one of them.
Summary: I bought this product based on its looks and good reviews. As far as looks go it is very attractive. Its black and shiny and the blue light display on the unit with the touch screen is great. Although it does tend to collect dust so you have to keep wiping it to retain that good look. It's very easy to set up and the menus are pretty intuitive and it has a nice controller. Sadly, it is quite noisy, both the fan and the disk drive.
