Summary: I should have listened to the negative reviews. I figired those guys were abusing their equipment or something until I purchased this brick. I would give it zero stars if possible. It doesn't even deserve one. I thought this Blu Ray Disc player would be a great compliment to my Home theater system and my recently purchased Samsung 55" plasma. It worked fine for the first 6 months with occasional use (Maybe 30 movie playings), but then it wanted to update firmware.
Summary: I am so happy I'm not the only one that is stuck with this hunk of junk! This player knows when a movie is getting to the good parts because it basically skips to death at the best parts of every movie. Like someone else said, it will skip when playing brand new out of the box blue-ray and DVD movies. The touch interface on the top of the player doesn't work unless you tap the touch button several times.
Summary: very sleek, worked well for 2 years and then stopped working. would freeze for DVD's and skip all over the place. The warranty expired and fixing it would cost more than a new one. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.
Summary: Do not buy a Samsung. They have the worst customer service in the world. It took me 4 days of them giving me bad advice, different things to try, and other companies to call before they finally transferred me to technical support, only to be told that my player no longer supported that subscription service that was asking about the whole time. I had purchased the player for 3 subscription services and they never bothered to tell me that one was discontinued.
Summary: I have 3 of these players (not purchased from Amazon) and have had nothing but freezing and stuttering with them. I have a backup Sony that never fails me. I really don't know why I stick with Samsung. I have had their BD-P1000, UP-5000, BD-P1200, and a host of others. Samsung support is useless, instead of solving the issues with their players, they just introduce new models and screw the customers who have older models. Very disappointing.
Summary: Don't buy this! I suppose it was a bad sign when its little start-up sound was glitchy right out of the box. Internet streaming features have an awkward interface and aren't reliable. Worst of all, every firmware update from Samsung breaks something! After owning the thing for about a year, I now find myself with a blu-ray player that doesn't play blu rays and only works with streaming services when it feels like it.
Summary: I bought this player on April 20, 2009, and it stopped working today, June 21 2011, FAIL. Even brand new it had troubles playing disks, it'd not recognize disks, or it'd stop playing in the middle of a movie. Really not worth the purchase.
beware! firmware upgrades will destroy your player!

Summary: we've had the player for a year now and have had off-and-on problems with it recognizing dvd and blu ray disks and occasionally problems with streaming. now the player will not recognize ANY blu ray disks at all. a casual search of the problem on the internet reveals that the problems are with our latest firmware upgrade and samsung customer service only tells us to "wait until they work out the bugs on the next upgrade" which will be when? they don't know.
