Pros: Before update: only Netflix and Pandora for streaming apps after update: Blockbuster, NF, Pan and YouTube. Decent player quality and the hanging hardware was easy to work with. WLan dongle included, which sealed the deal.
Cons: 1. Dongle positioning, poor. Currently using a USB extension so dongle gets a better signal. 2. WLAN setup is far less than optimal. Seems to prefer a visible SSID and WPS setup. Password input never worked. 3. When 1st update was a pain.
Summary: very sleek, worked well for 2 years and then stopped working. would freeze for DVD's and skip all over the place. The warranty expired and fixing it would cost more than a new one. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.
"We have owned the Samsung BD-P4600 for over a year."
5 January 2011
Pros: Style, wall mount. Wireless dongle to utilize home wireless network.
Cons: Have had many firmware upgrades, which have been dutifully installed to no avail. The player started out playing Blu-Ray discs flawlessly, but has never played a DVD all the way through. All firmware upgrades installed, failed to improve anything.
Summary: this model of Samsung only look cool but does not work well functionality. I have consistent problem with Blu-ray player. It does not play most of the disks. I got really frustrated with this product. I would suggest to buy something which more functionality even it does not look cool.
"Will not play several titles and updates don't fix it"
28 October 2010
Pros: none at all.. stay way from Samsung blu ray players!!!
Cons: won't play several blu-ray titles, customer service sucks, long delay between pushing a button ( ie. stop ) and the player performing the function, player sometimes becomes unresponsive, remote is terrible, very low dependability, over priced,
Summary: I bought this not wanting to spare any expense, just wanted a good Blu-ray player that would also play Divx, xvid, and mkv files, and being such an expensive player I assumed this one would do a good job. Wrong. Having owned it for about 10 months, and having kept it updated with any firmware upgrades (in hopes that the bugs and annoyances would be fixed), it's finally frozen up completely. How could such a thing happen to this top-of-the-line player?
Summary: I bought this player to mount on the wall below my Samsung 7000 series tv at Christmas last year. The shell matches the bezel of the tv and looks great. I also have the matching sound bar. The player not only plays blu-ray and DVD discs but it also connects to the internet and has some built in applications. These are NetFlix, Pandora and Youtube. Pandora and Netflix work wonderfully but YouTube is more of a gimmick.
