Excerpt: Back in 2006, Samsung was the first manufacturer to release a Blu-ray player to the masses. It contributed to the format’s less than stellar launch reportedly due to an incorrect default setting in the video processing chip set used in the player.
Samsung's Fancy Blu-ray Player Will Have You Up Against the Wall
10 June 2009
Excerpt: Its glossy black finish and polished Darth Vader design make Samsung’s newest Blu-ray box, the BD-P4600, stand out from every other player on the market. Well, it actually doesn’t stand anywhere at all — it comes with the metal brackets to mount it on a wall or plant it on a desktop pedestal. And like Lord Vader, this model packs some serious force with its built-in streaming for Pandora music and Netflix movies.
Pros: High-end, spacey design. Loaded with features, including ability to mount it on the wall. Loads Blu-ray discs exceptionally fast. High-quality playback.
Cons: Complicated initial setup. Cramped underside port-connection compartment. Overpriced for what it delivers.
Excerpt: It's hats off (and quite possibly wallets out) for Samsung . With the BD-P4600 Blu-ray player, it provides a welcome change from the visual norm. Styled to ape the finish of the company's splendid 7000 / 7020 series of LCD screens (with a choice of clear or red accents), it's a taste of a Bang & Olufsen-esque high design at a fraction of the price.
Pros: Unique looks, simple to set up, vibrant Blu-ray and DVD images
Cons: Not the last word in motion tracking, mediocre sound, choosy about handshaking with other devices via HDMI
Excerpt: Samsung's latest premium player, the BD-P4600, features a radical wall-mounting design, slashed disc-loading times and adds wireless networking as the new must-have feature. It's also the world's slimmest Blu-ray player – for the moment, anyway...
Summary: While we’re impressed by how quickly Blu-ray player prices have plummeted lately, we’re less keen on the fact that they all look pretty much the same. The most outlandish design touch we’ve seen so far is the Sony BDP-S550’s blue fascia, and that’s not saying much. Fortunately, you can always rely on Samsung to try something different.
Summary: Ultimately, the Samsung BD-P4600 may be sunk by its price. Sony and Panasonic both have excellent models on the market that cost less and have a more traditional form factor. But that's not to say the BD-P4600 isn't a great player, because it is. We love the speed with which it operates, and we also like the picture and sound quality.
Pros: Attractive design, Fast load times, Easy to use, Good picture and sound quality
Cons: Relatively expensive, Lack of analogue audio outputs
Pros: Unikalna, atrakcyjna stylistyka, Kontrastowy, z nasyconymi kolorami obraz, Dobry dźwięk, Rozbudowana funkcjonalność, Szybka praca
Cons: Ograniczony zestaw gniazd, Niektóre funkcje niedopracowane
