BDP3600 - Does BDP stand for "But Doesn't Play" BluRay?

Amazon Customer, Amazon
3 January 2015
  • Summary: We've had the BDP3600 for a few years now. We are very unhappy. It plays DVDs and streams NetFlix fine. But it doesn't play BluRays movies anymore. It worked fine when we first got it. But now, if we try to play a BluRay movie we get a message that says "This disk cannot be played".

I used to like it.

Donna, Amazon
26 September 2010
  • Summary: Now I don't. I just purchased 4 blu-ray movies by Disney. And this player will not play them properly, with the most current firmware available. There's a whole forum out there about how this player won't play the Disney blu-ray movies, and some DVD's, properly or at all.

Worst product ever

Paul D. Green, Amazon
5 August 2010
  • Summary: They call this a Blu Ray player. Only I'd never know it. Cause it will only load Blu Ray disks .5 out of 10 times. I've upgraded the firsmware 3 times in the 6 months I've owned it. We've rented disks -- it won't play them. We've bought disks -- it won't play those either.

Samsung Blu Ray is not dependable.

RogerN, Amazon
4 August 2010
  • Summary: My wife and I had previously purchased a Samsung blu-ray (1600) and had had a good experience with it. We purchasd the 3600 from Amazon. From the outset, it did not play some bly-ray titles and would skip and stutter as it read the disc. It got worse and worse.

Don't Buy! 3 Month Labor Warranty Shows Samsung's...

hpurcey1, PriceGrabber
25 July 2010
  • Summary: READ THE FINE PRINT ON THE WARRANTY BEFORE YOU PURCHASE! AND, IF A PRODUCT SO MUCH AS SQUEAKS, RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY! We were complete idiots to buy this Blu-Ray Player! The warranty is THREE MONTHS ON LABOR AND ONE YEAR ON PARTS!
  • Pros: Wireless Streaming - Netflix & Pandora Are Great
  • Cons: 3 Month Warranty on Labor. Main Board Failed After 5 Months. Need to push handheld control multiple times to operate unit (open & close disc tray), fast forward, pause, etc.)

No Real Warranty

steven s., Newegg
11 May 2010
  • Pros: Slim - doesn't weight much.
  • Cons: Unit broke after the 3 month labor warranty expired - Samsung wanted $85 to repair. Used the player maybe 10 times.

Flashes black screen

Lawrence G., Newegg
3 March 2010
  • Summary: Simply do not chance buying this product.
  • Pros: Shiny?
  • Cons: I am on my 2nd one of these players. The first flashed black at random times, and now the 2nd is doing the same along with a grinding sound when it first turns on. I am only on a 2nd cause I sent it in under warranty. Sadly I may have to do it again, though I will be trying to play the pity card ...

Stay Away!

Ben C., Newegg
27 February 2010
  • Summary: I took it back to my local retailer and purchased an LG 570 for about $30.00 USD less and I could not be happier.
  • Pros: Great feature set - Wifi/Netflix/Pandora - Samsung high quality build & slick presentation.
  • Cons: Firmware is very buggy - Constantly had to reboot the unit, it took a substantial amount of time to attach to my network. SMB sharing DOES NOT WORK. Samsung Tech support did not know how to trouble shoot their own product. I asked if they had been working on any of the bugs and I was told "no".

Dead on Arrival

David E., Newegg
19 February 2010
  • Summary: I decided to purchase this unit despite all of the negative reviews. Shame on me. :-) I bought this player because it had all of the features I was looking for. I hooked up the player, connected to my wireless network with ease, tried to update the firmware, but the player keeps telling me the disc...
  • Pros: Nice looking player, the ability to stream content from my PC, Divx playback, included Wifi dongle, 1 GB of internal memory, Netflix, Pandora; all the features you would want in a Blu-ray player.
  • Cons: Was DOA. Disc tray wont open or close. Its also a fingerprint/dust magnet.

Piece of Junk

John B., Newegg
12 February 2010
  • Pros: Streams Pandora and Netflix without any problems
  • Cons: I've gone through two units... plays about 6 Blurays disks fine then stops playing blurays all the way through. Called Samsung customer service and they accidentally hung up on me when transfering my call, this is after waiting for 25+ min on a Saturday. Won't buy from Samsung ever again.
