Excerpt: This is a great Blu-Ray Player! When we decided to make the leap from DVDs to Blu-Rays there were several things that were important to us, but the biggest thing was the ability to have the streaming capability from Netflix and other online sites. We tend to watch a lot of tv and movies from the streaming sites so we needed one that could do that quickly. We had also heard horror stories about Blu-Ray players taking a long time to load. When the player arrived I was...
Excerpt: Amazing! I can't say enough about this Samsung DVD player! It was not difficult at all to hook up the wireless and connect to the various services available for streaming. The on screen menu walks you right through it. Whether it be a dvd, blu-ray dvd or watching netflix the picture is incredible! I didn't even realize that there would be such a difference in picture compared to my old (original) dvd player and roku box. The picture quality is off the charts!
Excerpt: I really love this bluray player, and being able to stream Netflix and Pandora right from the player. The only thing is that a lot of the times when I am trying to stream Netflix, either the sound doesnt work or the next time the picture won't work and I have to keep rebooting the bluray player and my whole tv system to try it over again. I have upgraded the firmware multiple times and it keeps doing this.
Excerpt: I recently purchased this player after looking at several different ones. It works great for the most part. I have noticed a few issues with the wireless connection sometimes having trouble connecting, and also there a few time it has gotten stuck on some blu-ray's disc menus and would not allow me to select anything. I have to restart the unit. Overall even though this little hiccups have happened I do still really like the player.
Samsung - BD-P3600 Blu-Ray Player works like a charm
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I am very satisfied with this player. It does a beautiful job of playing Blu-Ray disks and the image is immaculate as is the audio (the primary reason for buying any player). Netflix streaming is great (it also streams in HD where the content is available - much nicer than the image on a PC). I also love the Pandora internet radio and the ability to stream videos on youtube. I had no trouble connecting to my network. It was very easy.
Summary: Here is the biggest problem with this player. 1. PC Steaming. Forget about it. It does not work. Tried several times and was unable to connect. It will show your pc but that is far as I could get. It would not let me log in. I followed directions to the letter. 2. Netflix is ok but often it will either freeze or drop connection. Thought it was my router but nope. Got a top of the line router for y home wireless network and still have problem. And no its not the distance.
Summary: This is the third Samsung blu-ray player I've owned. I've stuck with them because of a good record with other products but the 3600 is the last straw for me. Every time I buy a Bly-ray disc, even if it's over a month old, I have to do a firmware update to get it to play. Then there is a fifty-fifty chance that it will play through an entire movie without freezing, stuttering or locking up entirely.
Summary: Most of the reviews for this product were written back in 2009. Its really easy to rate a product when it is new, but what about when it gets older? How does it hold up? Well, mine hasn't held up terribly well, and I am getting sick of products that have a 2 year shelf life. I'm not sure why manufacturers are racing to the bottom with all the money we spend. I bought this unit in January 2009, and I was happy as a clam.
Pros: Nothing that is not available on other Blu Ray players
Cons: The player shows a message "Disc cannot be played" even when there's no disc in the tray and ejects the tray. This prevents the player to be used for streaming purposes as well (the tray has to be closed), effectively rendering the player useless.
Summary: Unit failed to play blu-ray after 11 months. This was their top of the line unit when i bought it. Will play DVD and the other functions with little problem once the system is configured. Config was a chore however. I don't think I even watched 10 Blu-rays before that function failed. I called customer service but was 15 days past the 1 year warranty and was told I could send it to one of their authorized repair shops. This would cost $75 just to have them look at it.
