Problems develop with stuttering on playback of BD

Justin T. Eckert, Amazon
3 January 2012
  • Summary: I bought this for my father. He hardly ever uses it, but now it has developed a problem where playback of BD discs freeze and unfreeze every few seconds, thus making them unwatchable. It is not a firmware or disc problem. It is a hardware defect problem that many people are experiencing. Furthermore Samsung support is useless. Stay away from Samsung blu-ray players!

Freezes while playing disks

Gearl Brace, Amazon
24 February 2010
  • Summary: Much like the experience of other users I love the streaming Pandora and Netflix, both of which I use quite frequently. These features both work flawlessly and was the main selling point. When it comes to disk playback the system will eventually freeze partway through the disk. Often if I simply wait for a bit, it'll start playing again but the freezes will become more and more frequent. I suspected overheating but the unit has sufficient airflow all around.

"Good While It Lasted"

Brielynn27, CNET
10 January 2010
  • Pros: I liked the simplicity of installation, and connection to my wireless internet.
  • Cons: The machine lasted only a little over a year, and then with little warning it just stopped working. Picture was always distorted, and the sound was off. The image, on the rare occasion that we could get it to play would freeze up every few minutes.

"Netflix streaming - not reliable enough yet."

tekni, CNET
18 December 2009
  • Pros: Brilliant from new Nov 09 until Dec 09, style, functions, HD 1080p picture and Netflix all near enough perfect for anyone. Netflix $2 extra for Blue Ray well worth it. Movie mailing worked a dream.
  • Cons: Netflix issues not yet solved. Netflix downloaded from internet great initially but failed out of the blue. Could be due to a power out tage but was protected by medium priced protected power bars.

Unreliable quality!

Alex Lee, Amazon
11 January 2009
  • Summary: I recently bought 2 of the BD-2500 because the 2550 was not available and that I thought that one can upgrade the firm ware to get the Pandora function with the 2500. I realized my error after setting up the first set and returned the unopened box. Since I need to upgrade everything I have to blu-ray, I figured that I can eventually move this unit to somewhere where I don't need Pandora. The Netflix function works great and very easy to set up.

Frustrating

doug, Amazon
7 November 2008
  • Summary: After finally deciding to purchase a blu-ray I decided to buy the Samsung BD2550. I got it home and plugged it in straight to my Panisonic 50" 1080P plasma via hdmi cable. Although having never owned a blu-ray I thought the picture and sound were great. However while watching the movie(Hulk)the audio would cut out for about 5 seconds. This went on throughout the movie about 7 times in all. I put in a standard disc and the same thing occured.
