Summary: I've had the samsung for a couple years now....It's the worst peice of junk I've ever owned..sometimes takes 5or6 minutes to load a blu ray dvd...sometimes it won't even load it...so I have to UNPLUG it to reset it.I'm writing this review now because I've been fighting to watch the last 30 minutes of a brand new movie and it keeps cutting out....so I've decided the stupid thing is going in the trash...probally after I smash it to bits for driving me completly bat$h!
Summary: Well, I always thought this thing was slow. I bought it in 2008, and it seemed to take forever for movies to "load" and for the player to start playing. I won't go into tons of detail here, but now it just won't play discs. It says no disc, even though there is one in there. I downloaded the new firmware, which wasn't easy, and still had no luck. I recently bought a Sony blu ray player. It was half the price, and 4 times the machine of this Samsung.
Summary: Oftentimes the DVD tray doesn't open before pressing open 2-3 times. (at times we bang the top of the player to prompt it to open quicker) VERY loud machine in general, makes some strange noises while "firing up". Sometimes it doesn't recognize the DVD at all. Once or twice we had no sound and had to turn it off and back on. Bottom line: Don't waste your money with this one.
Summary: We got this when it was introduced to play Blu-rays but more importantly to stream Netflix movies. It worked briefly - we watched movies and enjoyed Pandora. We updated the firmware when they prompted us. And have had nothing but problems ever since. Not freezing like everybody else says but sometimes it does flash black quickly a few times when we start it.
Summary: This broke in less than a year. It gets stuck on "load" every time I turn it on and the picture goes out. It has had problems since day one, small at first, a stutter, a freeze, may need to restart it once a week. Every software update seemed to make things worse. I guess, considering the problems from the updates, I shouldn't be angry that they have released very, very few of them. But Samsung has a horrible rep. for update release. There customer service is awful.
Summary: Where to begin: The HD audio drops out when you switch chapters (pause button twice makes it come back). The video skips regularly. The Netflix streaming feature regularly reports that my account has been hacked and I have to reset the player (FF button for 5 seconds) and re-activate it via my account online. Nothing has been hacked, it's just another glitch. Even though it will play DVD's fine, it stops playing all Blu-ray disks (just says, "Disk Cannot be played").
Finally they upgraded the firmware! Destroyed the player.

Summary: I purchased this unit when it was new, it has seen two firmware updates to add functionality I don't care about. But the functionality that I do care about (It being able to properly play a blu ray disc) they didn't update. I recently received Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on Blu Ray. The disc does not play properly in the player.
Summary: I bought this blu-ray for Christmas last year, December 10th to be exact. 11 months almost to the day, it quit working, it would play regular dvd's but no longer blu-rays. I called Samsung and the personnel were very helpful. I sent it in, 10 days later I get a phone call telling me that I have to pay $87 to repair it, the "90 day" part of the warrenty is on the "labor". I huffed and puffed but I payed it, what else are you going to do? They have your $400 player.
