Excerpt: My daughter recently suggested that we buy a BluRay player a few months ago, and at first I refused to do so because of the price. However, I started noticing the prices of BluRay players going down and this made ma a little interested in them. What finally made me change my mind and get one was the fact that Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, one of my daughter’s favourite films, was released in that format.
Summary: Great player. Looks very slick and the touch controls are really smart. although it does take it's time loading blurays. I bought this to play Tron (which was new at the time) and it couldn't do it without jamming at the Disney screen. I downloaded the latest firmware on a memory stick and updated the bluray player and it's had no dramas with any film ever since. Great compatibility with other Samsung products.
Summary: Well we bought this player about 6 months ago and it is still working well so thats a plus. this is the first blu ray player we have owned and are pretty pleased with it. WE love the fact that it has a usb so you can literally stick stuff onto a harddrive and plug it it. thats a real plus for us However we found it to be more tempermental with back up disks. also when using back ups we found it to stick alot and we would often have to remove the disk and reload it.
Summary: I got one of these Blu-ray players in the hope that by playing Blu-rays and DVDs on it instead of using my PS3 all the time, I would be able to make my PS3 last longer! I wholeheartedly wish I hadn't bothered. This player is so disappointing on so many levels, some of which I will attempt to describe here. Firstly the player is very noisy on start up and whenever a disc is inserted, often sounding as though the laser head is getting stuck.
Summary: Taking into account the low price Samsung produced a decent product with the BD-P1580. If Amazon ran a policy of offering 10 stars rather than 5 then I'd choose 7 however if I feel the product rating warrants being 'rounded up' then I will hence the 4 stars. I've used the Samsung for over a year now, due to it coinciding with a house move it was purchased on a paltry £450 budget to go with an LG LCD.
Summary: Image quality is good but issues with some disks. Sound cuts out on Limitless and inception despite firmware being the most recent. Most of the time it's fine but the anti-piracy crap cuts out sound.....making pirate blu-rays more appealing.
Summary: Wanted a Bluray player for a while and my girlfriend bought me this one for christmas. The unit is sleek and slim, fits nicely on my tv cabinet. Lots of good features, the firmware update kicked in and went through no problems at all. Have always been a fan of Samsung and it continues with this purchase. DVDs are upscaled nicely and havent had any problems playing various formats. Would recommend, very pleased with it.
Summary: I have this one for over 9 months now. Overall it works good. Updates are working fine, picture is great etc. Problem occurs if you want to have HD audio enabled via Amplifier (a/v reciever). Audio goes out of sync with picture which make watching movies not fun and annoying. If you don't plan to get HD sound out of it then it is a fine BD player.
Summary: Our first Blu-Ray player and its superb. A friend recommended Samsung and its easy to see why. The unit is nicely made and pretty to look at, we really like the touch sensitive controls, it seems that the days of actually pushing buttons are numbered!
