Summary: Being a fairly frequent consumer of home theater equipment, I have had my ups and downs. I purchased a Samsung BD-P1200 a couple years ago due to the pricepoint and the fact that it included an ethernet port for firmware updates (I don't like the hassle of burning my own ISO image discs every time a...
Summary: Well, I bought this unit when I purchased my Samsung 52 inch 650. Seems logical, right? Nothing but problems with the Blu-ray bd-p1500. Sometimes it works fine, other times you may have to insert, restart, and re-insert the disk just to simply watch a movie. Which has a tendency to change your mood.
Summary: Comments about Samsung BDP-1500: If you want a Blu-ray and only a Blu-ray, it's a good one. I tried it at home. But I'll say it 100x, the PS3 does Blu-ray PLUS games, and everyone plays games.
Pros: Backwards Compatible, DVD Upconversion, Easy Set-Up, Excellent Image Quality, Good Connections, Good Soundtrack Support, Upgradeable
Summary: I received this player about two weeks ago, and hooked it up last week. Initially my thoughts were very positive. We watched the Dark Knight Blu-Ray disc, and it was incredible. That was the good news.
Summary: My first Blu-Ray player...and I've chalked up this one to simply being a lemon. Two nights ago it arrived, downloaded the firmware update no problem via ethernet. Popped in "Iron Man"...would not play. Read that I need to disable BD-Live for it to play. It did.
Summary: This unit has two design problems that I'm aware of. I'm surprised that Samsung hasn't already fixed these issues. For reference, my unit has the latest 1.3 firmware as of 9/10/2008. #1: The BD-P1500 has inherent audio drop problems on the HDMI interface.

When we upgraded our television last year, we kept the same DVD player as it was perfectly fine and didn’t need replacing and the one we have at present is the...
Pros: Great quality, easy to use and set up, reliable
Excerpt: I have had not a very good experiance with this player, it started not playing disc after about 3 months and would only play them if you opened and shut the tray repeatedly. Therefore contacted Samsung about repair.
