Samsung BD-P1000

Missy, ReviewStream
12 October 2014
  • Excerpt: I use a lot of DVD players at home, and there’s a Samsung brand which I really like. It’s Samsung BD-P1000. This DVD set is all jet black, and it plays DVD disks back to back, means I could put both sides A and B, and it’ll play nicely for …

Samsung Bd-P1000 Blue ray disk player

ERIK, ReviewStream
12 October 2014
  • Excerpt: The introduction of high definition television asks a new standard for dvd’s because it is not possible to get these quality on a normal dvd of 4,7 Gigabyte. At the moment it is only possible to play such disks and the Samsung Bd-P1000 Blue ray disk player is one of …

How to set up and maintain the BD-P1000

Antonio del Drago, Amazon
21 October 2008
  • Summary: This player actually works quite well, once you know how to properly set it up and maintain it. The unfortunate thing is that, right out of the box, it will require a firmware update. Here is everything that you need to know: - Many of the early reviews complained that it lacked a sharp, truly hi-def picture. That is because it shipped with a faulty programmed video chip. Thankfully, the firmware updates have corrected this problem...

PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST!

Stuart J. Shields, Amazon
11 June 2008
  • Summary: I have this player I would strongly state that you not purchase unless you $300.00 to spend what is really a "beefed up DVD player". It won't play any blu-ray discs past March of this year. I have called their "customer service" countless times with no resolution. They will not provide you with any up to date firmware nor any real support. The last rep I spoke to laughed at me. So do yourself a favor and shop for another brand. This is a big waste of money.

Wait Awhile.....

Shastastan "Stan", Amazon
20 February 2008
  • Summary: We bought our 1000 about 10 mo. ago. However, we didn't start watching blu ray until recently. A couple of movies would not play, but Planet Earth would. We then checked these reviews and discovered such a thing as firmware. We went to Samsung's website and got ver. 1.4. Getting it into the dvd player was another adventure and I'm techno minus. Quite by accident, I discovered that you have to do extra things to get an .iso file to burn onto a CD.

More trouble than it is worth.

Couch Potato "TV Addict!", Amazon
17 January 2008
  • Summary: Bought it a while back. Upgraded firmware Still won't play some disks. Customer Service is worthless and not interested in the problem. Bought the Panasonic and it is a dream machine. Plays everything beautifully! I will sell the Sansung on Ebay... what a waste!

Samsung Blu Ray blues! Bad luck or bad product?

Marc Lisenby, Amazon
8 November 2007
  • Summary: We have a 50 inch Sony SXRD 1080p television and the high def images are breathtaking. We adopted Blu Ray as our format choice and found this Samsung player to be priced about right when we bought it in the first half of 2007. Like most Blu Ray players, load time is over 30 seconds and if you eject and re-insert the disc, the player loses it's memory and you have to remember where you left off.

No problems here

HD Junkie "JSH", Amazon
2 July 2007
  • Summary: I bought this player in June. First thing I did was upgrade the firmware, then did it again mid-june. Important to keep up on this as the technology is evolving and all the new players will require this from time to time, so keep up with it. I have yet to find a blu-ray disc I can not play. The player is a little slow to load especially titles like pirates of the caribbean, but so is my toshiba HD-A2 on bootup.

Update your firmware

RGS, Amazon
26 May 2007
  • Summary: This is an amazing player really, and quite under rated. However, the first thing you need to do is either download the latest firmware from the Samsung website and burn it to a disc, or call Samsung and have a disc sent to you. Once you do that all is well and you'll be amazed at how well this player works (even on the latest Pirates of the Caribbean discs).
