Excerpt: I use a lot of DVD players at home, and there’s a Samsung brand which I really like. It’s Samsung BD-P1000. This DVD set is all jet black, and it plays DVD disks back to back, means I could put both sides A and B, and it’ll play nicely for …
Do you get the impression that most of the people that don't like the BD-P1000 are HD supporters?

Summary: Every once in a while the BD-P1000 freezes and needs to be reset...but not very often. When I got this player, the picture was good and it had a few quirks and irritations. Since installing the firmware, the picture is excellent and the irritations have mostly gone away.
Summary: This player contains most of the features a videophile would enjoy, along with excellent craftsmanship...every bit as good as the Sony or Philips. Samsung is an real up-and-comer, and they are proving it further with their astonishing ***** (solid five star) second generation machine (available in...
Summary: save some $$$ get a ps3 not only does it play blu-ray disks but its a next gen game system, you cant lose.
Cons: This is sorta overpriced if you take into account that a ps3 is 1xx cheaper and if what the other review said it has some issues. I own a ps3 and have never had any issues with lagging or slow load times.
Excerpt: The introduction of high definition television asks a new standard for dvd’s because it is not possible to get these quality on a normal dvd of 4,7 Gigabyte. At the moment it is only possible to play such disks and the Samsung Bd-P1000 Blue ray disk player is one of …
Summary: Overall this blu-ray player has performed above average. It does still need a little work in the video quality as I know some blu-ray disks should look somewhat better than it looks on this Samsung. Hopefully, their upcoming second generation player will take care of these issues.
Summary: I love this player. It makes me mad occasionally when it laggs or has disc compatibillity errors. But like I said before, first generation DVD players are not what we have today. I would recommened this or HD-DVD to anyone wanting a high deffinition cinema quallity expireience.
Pros: Excellent picture quallity. Beautiful picture, without a doubt the best picture you will ever see in high deffinition provided you have a 1080P capible display. Sound quallity is excelent.
Cons: Like any first generation product it will have bugs. Load times are a bit long. Whats called the "Pop up menu" will occasionally lag. Some special features refuse to play. But lets not forget what the first gen DVD players were like. Not horrible, but it is what to be expected from a first genera...
Summary: Earlier reviewers had given this Samsung player somewhat lukewarm reviews. One thing I learned from those postings is that Blu-ray requires a firmware upgrade. As soon as I had hooked up the player I inserted the upgrade files on a CD which I had downloaded from Samsung.
