Summary: My first jump into the world of Blu-Ray and it is everything they said it was. Great picture, sound. slow-loading.Two of three ain't bad. I DID have trouble playing certain disks-or rather not playing them. I contacted Samsung and they rushed my a firmware update. About 15 minutes later, everything had improved and only one disc was rejected. That was due to a nasty fingerprint, which was quickly taken care of and the film played (Casino Royale) without ahitch.
Excerpt: If you buy this blue ray disk player you don’t need to threw away your old dvd’s because this player can play them all. The only disadvantage at this moment is the high price, more than 1000,00 but of course these prices will slow down very quickly if more movies are available in this quality. If you have a high definition television this blue ray disk player is the best choice for you to watch movies in the same quality.
Excerpt: What sets it different from other DVD players is that videos are crystal clear, there’s vibrant colors of your movie watching, and it allows experimental designs on borders, so I could play around with it, while enjoying the show. I guess the only con thing about this is the slow loading of disc. That, I’ve to wait like 1 minute before it starts to load on the disc and then enabling watching. But, I’m satisfied with the overall effect.
Pros: Honestly, you have to see this thing in action (I have, in the US). The picture quality is truly stunnning. The DVD upscaling works beautifully...WAY better than standard than a $50 DVD player (if "Sphincter" is happy with a grainy picture, so be it). Blu-ray is super cool, the next Big Thing!
Cons: It is a bit pricey, but for people who love their movies and their home theatres, it's totally worth it. Of course, would like to see more content, but should be a whole lot of movies available before the new year.
Summary: Does anyone know how to get this player to play Region 1 standard DVDs? I see on some players you just use the remote control to put in a code and it will play any region, does anyone know if this is possible on this player?
Pros: Great Picture on Blu Ray Movies
Cons: Not enough Blu Ray Movies in the market place yet.
Summary: I purchased one a few weeks and bravely ordered 3 Region "A" discs. 2 of the 3 worked. The 3rd disc when inserted said that I should remove the disc and insert it into a Region "A" machine. This leads me to one of two conclusions. Either: a) a number of US discs are not region coded (hence why the first two discs worked); or b) the machine has a basic form of multi-regioning out of the box but certain movie companies have developed region encoding which is sophisticated...
