Summary: There are so many problems with this PVR that I am too tired to list them all. Fundamentally, the firmware is buggy, the tuner is weak and the user interface was thrown together by an amateur. Customer service in the UK is unable to fix problems and unwilling escalate them. It is less than two years old but I look forward to replacing it soon with some decent technology.
Summary: I read the bad reviews about this unit, but went ahead and bought it to go with my new Samsung TV. Huge mistake. Bought on 18/10/2012 had to go for repair in April 2013 (straight after a software update). Now it's gone wrong again ( again after a software update ). And guess what, Samsung are no longer interested - it's 3 months out of it's warranty, and they will only give you the name of a local repairer - so I'm on my own.
Summary: First I realize you cannot give 0 star!! but a minimum of 1 : consider mine as 0 star, a disaster... Bought that product for the same reason as many others: had a samsung TV then thought it would add value to get the same vendor for both appliances. What a mistake I did. - After 7 months of buying the E8900, come back home after a few days to realize no program was recorded. - The two tuners were broken, but luckily it was still under warranty...
Summary: This is a terrible (and expensive) machine - steer clear of it. Having noticed the extraordinary high number of '1' star reviews on Amazon (17 out of 41 reviews), Amazon should seriously consider withdrawing this heap of junk from their site. Problems are numerous, similar to other 1 star reviews. Maybe they should introduce a `Lemon' symbol instead of a Star! The Amazon reviews confirm my experience that this Samsung machine is plagued with all sorts of `bugs'.
Summary: Bought this to go with my 8000 serires tv, (which is great) However even with the bad reviews i thought i'd give it a go. Unfortunately mine did not even power up! Called samsung who would repair not replace-not happy as only 3 days old. Amazon were/are great and awaiting courier to pick it up for a refund. Now wondering what one to buy!!!!
Summary: Samsung BD-E8900 3D Smart Blu-ray Disc Player with 1TB HDD and Built-in Wi-Fi (New for 2012) Samsung's catchphrase 'imagine the possibilities' is very apt as you certainly won't be experiencing them. After reading the awful reviews I thought the best way to get a good one was to buy a refurbed one from amazon assuming all the bugs would have been ironed out. wrong. The remote would only turn it on and off and couldn't get past the start up language screen.
Summary: Ignore my previous review. Utter, utter garbage. Do not buy. Lasted 3 months, totally broken, wont play any discs now and reboots randomly when trying to watch recorded programmes. Vendor and Samsung support experience non-existent - still not repaired and neither show any willingness to provide a repair or replacement - latest suggestion is i travel 50 miles to drop off at a repair shop for 2 months for them to repair it, leaving me with no TV, loss of everything I've...
Summary: This product is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.. very very SLOW indeed. Even a sloth moves faster. Using the electronic programme guide is particularly frustrating. You press the button and nothing happens. You have to press three, four five times before the damn thing responds. It is incapable of starting and finishing a timer recording without blanking out the screen in the process for 10-15 seconds.
Summary: Have a Samsung TV, so went with this. Smart TV nothing special. Main issue is, it does not play DVDs - you've got about a 50/50 chance any disk will play first time. Locks up, and nothing will shift it except turning the power off. Have upgraded to latest software, but has made no difference. Save your money, go elsewhere.
Summary: I bought the previous version BDD8900, which seems identical for features and disk size. It had to go back to Samsung for a refund. It took 11 weeks to get my money back! All my recordings were lost, some concerts irreplaceable. It sounds like this updated version has many of the same problems, so I'm going to buy the Panasonic DMR-PWT520EB instead.
