"Sluggish. No keyboard connection--wireless or USB."
11 September 2013
Pros: Cheaper now. Actually does get me on Netflix.
Cons: Would not have bought if had realized keyboard access wasn't possible. Entering a reasonable length password or searching for a movie by name is a tedious process of arrowing about as the remotes have no alphabet key equivalents.
Summary: I have purchased this and used it only four DVDs up to this point. I have not yet tried it with the Blu-ray. When I brought this I chose this model because the Blockbuster site said it supported the Blockbuster online streaming. When I turned it on blockbuster was there then it Immediately went into an update and deleted Blockbuster. Had I known this was going to happen I would have purchased the Vizio unit I was looking at instead.
Summary: I purchased three of these players from QVC to have Netflix and Amazon Prime steaming to the three main rooms of my home. Thinking this was a really good deal at $89.00 each, I was overjoyed. When I installed them the first thing I did was a firmware upgrade. TWICE. Yep! There was two upgrades to make (took about forty minutes for each)--not including the automatic upgrade they performed on themselves after that.
Summary: This player takes a long time to boot. Once it does, it plays disks fine. Unfortunately it's barely usable for any of the other built in features. I bought this model in particular because I wanted to use it as a front-end for Plex. The Samsung Plex app looks more polished then the apps for Roku or LG devices. Unfortunately, I couldn't get through even the first few minutes of any of my videos. The audio & video would get out of sync.
Compact, good image, but slow response to remote commands
Tien Peng, Amazon
3 May 2013
Summary: Compact Blu-ray player with great online access features for connecting to Netflix, Youtube and Hulu. The major complaint is how slow the response to your remote button push it is. Especially since it gives you a menu to type in search items but you have to use the remote arrow buttons to get to the next letter, and the next, and the oops past it, the next, oops past it, and the next letter.
Summary: I purchased this to play DVD's and stream Netflix. The product worked beautifully with easy set up, a nice picture and ease of use. Then I saw it was compatable with MLBtv. I was very excited. I downloaded the MLBtv channel, purchased it on line, and linked the account to the DVD player. Then the troubles began. I got a great picture, but with no sound. I contacted MLBtv who said Samsung needed to update their compatability for the 2013 season.
Summary: I ordered this item instead of a Roku, thinking that the blu-ray and DVD player would be a nice bonus and worth the sticker price. My mistake was that what I really wanted was a streaming wi-fi player and I shortchanged myself by purchasing this item. DVD/Blu-Ray - were fine. Both were adequate and as far as I know even outstanding. I'm not a big blu-ray watcher so if that's what you're into, this review will be absolutely useless for you.
Excerpt: This is the second Samsung Blu-ray player I have purchased from Vanns. I had a Pioneer Elite that went bust, so I found another Samsung on Vanns. Set up is super fast and easy. The interface for the wi-fi and other apps is very well constructed and I love the various specialty apps for kids. Great product.
Summary: It has been about 6 hours since I decided to give this player another chance before reluctantly looking at another blu ray player to buy. At the very moment another error message is splashed across the screen. I have had this player for over a year, and at the time I bought it, I thought I was getting a great deal. I think it was about $200 at BB when I found it at Walmart for $99.
