Summary: I purchased three of these players from QVC to have Netflix and Amazon Prime steaming to the three main rooms of my home. Thinking this was a really good deal at $89.00 each, I was overjoyed. When I installed them the first thing I did was a firmware upgrade. TWICE. Yep!
Summary: A friend picked this blu ray player up for me at Best Buy.....When I read the reviews, I was worried that I would have the same problems as most other reviewers here have had....not being able to play Netflix....
Pros: Works just great with my Tier I ADSL connection and my Sanyo HD-TV (as long as our other devices aren't uploading huge files). You gotta give this little guy some bit room. ;) Do that, follow the instructions and you shouldn't have any problems. In case of problems, remember Google is your friend...
Cons: The interface is a bit clunky but it works. Be patient!
Summary: As a Blu-Ray player the Samsung E5700 is great. Plays crystal clear and even does some up-samples standard def DVDs so they look great as well. Plays any type of audio CD too. I love the additional digital audio out jack in the back so I can connect it directly into my stereo when the HDMI cable is...
Summary: I ordered this item instead of a Roku, thinking that the blu-ray and DVD player would be a nice bonus and worth the sticker price. My mistake was that what I really wanted was a streaming wi-fi player and I shortchanged myself by purchasing this item. DVD/Blu-Ray - were fine.
Summary: It has been about 6 hours since I decided to give this player another chance before reluctantly looking at another blu ray player to buy. At the very moment another error message is splashed across the screen.
HDMI out broke twice in a year, throwing in garbage
B. Ondrey, Amazon
16 February 2013
Summary: HDMI out broke twice in a year, throwing in garbage. First time it broke barely within the 30 day warranty, which was Jan 2012. It was somewhat involved but they took it back for repair. Got it back in the mail about 6-8wks later. Used it from that time until the HDMI output broke again Jan 2013.
Summary: First off Amazon lists a Firmware Upgrade on their site which will solve issues with this machine. When you follow the link that version is not listed. Nor do any Google searches reveal that particular firmware version.
Summary: It works fine as a blu ray player, but forget trying to use it with Netflix. It will constantly lose your username and password and require you to laboriously punch it in with the remote... if it works at all. Which it rarely does.
