Summary: it's a well made, light (maybe even too light) player, it plays plenty of file types like avi, mkv, mp4, mp3 and soo many more. Plus it's got usb port so You can watch films from pendrive. Can connect with internet through cable (no wi-fi in this model) Smart Hub (onscreen menu for player) is well done, and allows you to find and connect to netflix or love film or any other service in a second. The only thing I dont like is a bit of noise when playing a dvd or blue-ray.
Summary: This is a great product, looks great. I personally haven't used it much but I know my boyfriend loves it. Great for any movie fan. I bought this one as it matched his tv that he just bought. Brilliant price too. Definitely recommend this!
Summary: perfect except that you cant download any of the apps that come on the screen as it tells you that there is not eneough memory and it only has one port so you cant plug in a dongle and a hard drive at the same time to give you more memory so that you could download the apps.
A Good Blu-Ray player with some down sides that could be improved on
13 March 2013
Summary: I purchased this player to upgrade a DVD player I have had for years. I wanted to upgrade to a blu-ray player which had smart TV facilities which would be a cheaper option than paying all out on a new TV too. So would be a good intermediary device until my present TV gets too old or fails. Anyway, I purchased this one on the good reviews from other buyers and the Samsung reputation as well as the reasonable price.
Samsung BD-E5500 3D Blu-ray Player with Smart Hub (New for 2012)
21 February 2013
Summary: Player looks a bit 'tinny' at first glance, but not that bad really. Samsung don't supply the HDMI cable so had to get that separately (£5). It took about 5 mins (10mins if you include opening the box) to set up and link to my TV and it worked straight away. I just hope that the player is durable - only use and time will tell. I have not played Blue Ray or 3D DVDs yet so I hope that I will not be dissapointed. At the moment quite happy with player.
Great Blu-ray player, Smart hub needs improvmement
Jon Belcher, Amazon

Summary: I purchased this blu-ray player to complement my Samsung Smart TV. I wanted a basic 3D Blu-ray player and wasn't really interested in the smart features as they were already present on the TV itself. The player arrived well packaged and certainly looks the part. It has simple modern design with three main buttons on the front. Samsung appear to have moved back to physical buttons with this model.
Excerpt: Something of a caveat, first - I'm no technohead. I like my technology, but I could no more give you an account of the dark arts that occur behind the shiny cover than I could talk you through brain surgery. This is the Layman's perspective, with added Laymen. We hadn't really planned on getting a Blu-Ray player - I'd always considered them a bit of a frivolous extra; nothing you'd actually need when it came down to it.
