The Samsung BD-D8500 is of the worst products I've purchased...

Excerpt: I was really excited to get this player...it has a lot of features I wanted, and others that weren't on my "must have" list, but seemed like great perks. The biggest problem I have with the unit, making it almost unusable, is the lag..
Summary: This is a great machine. It has freeview hd and plays blue ray and you can record hd to the built in hard drive. It has wifi built in for Internet access. My only complaint is the unit can be slow to use and not as fast to select programmes as the Sky counterpart.
Summary: After buying a cheap HD recorder (from another retailer) that went back after 3 days this Samsung is a relevation. The HD tuner is stable and the picture is great. Recordings are equally good quality and the BluRay (and 3D) playback is faultless.
Summary: I swapped a DigitalStream DHR8203U PVR for this product, as I couldn't cope with the DigitalStream's poor picture quality relative to my TV tuner's. It also solved my present problem of not having a Blu ray player. I bought it to match my 40" Samsung LED backlit TV, and they work very well together.
