Summary: Great little player, used both wireless and wired internet connections decent video and audio quality. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to have any buffer memory for the network video clients. When the weather gets wet the connection quality sometimes suffers and that makes streaming through the DVD a little suspect.
Like many others...problems after warranty and software updates. Purchased 2 units from Electronics Expo
7 January 2013
Summary: After about 1 year of running fine, both Samsung BD-D6700 units started exhibiting major problems after software updates from Internet. Unit#1 - Wireless no longer works (keeps returning to main menu when trying to scan for available access points. Only the ethernet port works to connnect smart hub Unit#2 - No longer reads discs both DVD and Bluray. Reboots by itself.
Summary: I was in need of replacing my cheaper Blu ray player that caused skipping and pausing of movies (not a Samsung product). Was able to get this Samsung as a referb through amazon warehouse at a better than new price. came in like new condition (never used?). So far so good. works great. movies load so much faster. And best part is, since I also have a Samsung TV, the Blu ray player auto switches to itself with out searching for the device through the source button.
Summary: Unlike my old DVD players, this one gets hot on top. I guess its like a mini computer inside. You can use apps from Samgsung. Netflix works superb and they recently updated Youtube for faster and easier navigation. I got it because it can handle just about any type of media format you can throw on it (including raw HD TS files, HD camcorder files and Sony/Panasonic AVCHD format). It handles subtitles files, which the Sony bluray could not.
So good, I bought TWO, There's none better for < $200.
Frank R. Bledsoe, Amazon
27 February 2012
Summary: Believe me when I say less than 200 dollars, I bought both my players about 2 m0nths apart from Amazon's Warehouse Deals. If you can live without a perfect box or even an original box as my 1st player was shipped. It takes some of the luster and excitement of "The New Toy" appeal away, however, when you place it on your shelf or in your system it looks perfect and performs perfectly as well. There is nothing 2nd rate coming out of Warehouse Deals...
Summary: I purchased this unit Sept. 30th. Had problems streaming Netflix from the start. Was told my Samsung that my internet speed was too slow. Upgraded to 24mbps. Was told that I had to buy a Net Gear unit to assist. Paid $100 for that!! Still having problems. Have called Samsung many times. Their tech support is lousy! They always suggest the same fixes, which do not work. And they cut you off!
Summary: I bought this as a Christmas gift. We hooked it up a few days after Christmas. It worked nicely for about a month, but by February 1, it was dead. By dead, I mean, it can't read discs anymore. It keeps wanting us to go through set up again, but when we try, it freezes. Based on previous reviews about Samsung's customer service, I'm pretty sure I'm just out $120. Pretty annoying.
Summary: I love my new Samsung BlueRay player it's the first one I have ever bought. I should have done this long ago but I'm sure glad I did. The picture quality is outstanding. The one thing I really noticed was how great the sound was on my surround sound system. It really enhanced it to movie theater quality. 3D is so awesome I did'nt get the player for this reason but I'm glad I did.
Summary: I may not know enough to provide a thorough review of this product but I know that this Blu-ray player doesn't play Blu-rays. I confirmed with Samsung tech support that the device was updated with the most current firmware and that they were aware of playback issues but they couldn't tell me when to expect the next firmware update.
Pros: As a novice tech person I agree with the CNET review in that most of the features that make this player special are above and beyond what the average user require.
Cons: The player's out of date firmware prevent it from playing many movies. In the first 4 weeks I came across 4 movies from Netflix that wouldn't play. I connected the device to my wi-fi network and had playback issues each time I tried to watch a movie.
Summary: Bought this BR to work with my Samsung TV and the Smart features work well enough. The issue though is that this device would often freeze up and stop while playing a dvd. Secondly, when it would play (either streaming or from disc) the video would often cut out entirely. I've checked my cables and tested with a different dvd and it is definitely a problem with this Blue Ray. Now I'm off to see if I can find a better one that will work seamlessly with my Samsung TV.
