Samsung BD-D6700 Blu-ray 3D Player Review

BigPictureBigSound
31 October 2011
  • Conclusion: For those on the lookout for a fast Blu-ray Player with strong performance and a good selection of streaming apps, Samsung's BD-D6700 is worth a close look. The unique design makes it stand out from the boring black boxes of the competition and the extensive feature set is hard to beat.
  • Pros: Nice selection of streaming apps, including VUDU 3D, Excellent audio decoding options including transcoding to DTS or Dolby Digital, Solid standard def upconversion, Fast disc loading, Very good local media streaming (DLNA) with built-in WiFi, 1 GB of built-in memory (for BD-Live)
  • Cons: A few disc compatibility/playback issues, Some glitches (black frames) and one freeze-up when streaming Netflix, WiFi networking stopped working after the unit was transported (required disassembly to correct), A bit pricy

Sound & Vision Magazine
20 April 2011
  • Excerpt: The speed at which Blu-ray players have become commodities is amazing. It’s easy to find a decent player at or below $100 these days, a fact sure to depress any manufacturer hoping for more than pennies of profit.
