Summary: I purchased the Samsung BD-D5700 as my first blu-ray player with built-in wi-fi and had 18 months enjoyable use of playing discs, Netflix and apps. Suddenly it developed an automatic shut-down and re-start fault which required a service request. Because it's out of warranty, I expect charges for the service, not to mention the lack of a player for a period of time.
Summary: Within 6 months of owning this player, it completely died. (It stopped powering on) I had the player connected to a $300 Monster Cable surge protector, and every other device is still functioning perfectly, so it wasn't a surge that killed it. I replaced the player with the exact same unit, hoping that it was just bad luck... unfortunately this wasn't the case. 4 months after purchasing the 2nd player, the audio cuts out randomly during movies.
Summary: Pros: Has lots of features Cons: Not user friendly, slow, low-bandwidth wireless connection (tech support doesn't even know) with only 2.4GHz supported; not 5GHz. Every time there is a problem you will have to delete al the apps you downloaded by resetting the player to factory defaults and re-download everything. Remember that the network password is case sensitive.
Summary: When I first purchased this player a couple of years ago, Netflix would not work. My Wii connected to the same network in my house worked just fine, but Samsung had somehow managed to screw it up. After several firmware revisions, they finally got Netflix working, but now when watching Blu-Rays the audio drops out every 10 seconds or so, and the video freezes briefly. I bought cheap and got what I payed for.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, does not play blu-rays
Summary: The unit was broken after 7 months of barely use. The wifi connection is bad if you want to stream Neflix, but if you connect by wire the stream is very good. Im waiting for my unit from Samsung and I will inform if it is working right. Also, my other unit Samsung 3D HT E5500 is broken in less than a year. I love Samsung products, but I do not know what is going on with the Bluray players.
