Summary: Had this dvd player for a year now. Of course nothing can be done because the warrenty is up. Played beautifully at first then after about 7 months I noticed a grinding sound when I put in some dvd's. Didn't matter what kind it just happened at random. The player produced a beautiful picture so I was reluctant to give up on it. I use it with my Samsung 3d tv. Just today I tried to play a 3d movie. Would not play.
Summary: Overpriced piece of garbage! Was not working from the first minute, so I had to call Samsung's tech support, than customer service, which was a real hassle to accomplish anything. After two days and numerous call, they (customer service) had to elevate to a tier-2 tech support, which at the end resulted to send the unit back to them at their expense. 10 days later I've got it back and it seems to be working, but I'm not sure for how long?
Summary: Audio drops out for half a second intermittently when watching a normal DVD. Upgrading to the latest firmware doesn't help. Samsung support is terrible. Buy this player only if you don't plan on watching standard DVDs.
DTS Audio drops on each chapter change when playing a standard DVD
Rob C, Amazon
1 December 2010
Summary: The DTS Audio drops on each chapter change when playing a standard DVD encoded with DTS through a Pioneer VSX-33 receiver. I'm not skipping chapters with the remote; the sound drops during playback. I spoke with Samsung tier two support and she claims the fault is with my receiver. It makes no sense, because I connected my Panasonic DVD player to my receiver and the DTS encoded standard DVD plays perfectly.
Summary: made in china. mine lasted for 3 days. sent it back to samsung and they claimed to have repaired and returned. was exactly the same problem as when i sent it back. customer service department worse than poor and absolutely unhelpful. am waiting for a replacement and have been for more than a week. very unhappy with samsung right now.
Summary: November 20, 2010 I had ordered a "New" device. The one that arrived was not in its original packaging with innumerable scratches on the surface. The remote, batteries and cords were all bundled up loosely into a single sheath. Sending it back. Pretty disappointed. This is the first time Amazon has done this to me. Update November 24, 2010 I sent back the device I described above and got a new one again from Amazon ...
Summary: Top of product was scratched out of the box. Obviously used or display model. The unit could not read a disc of any kind. Returned for full refund, but still makes me wonder about amazon's fulfullment department.
