Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-Ray Player wireless WiFi is terrible
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I bought this Samsung BD-C6500 Blu-Ray player on black Friday because the price was so good I couldn't pass it up. I wish I hadn't. The Blu-Ray player itself is fine. Blu-Ray discs play just fine and look great. However one of the main reasons I bought this Blu-ray player is for the wireless Wi-Fi feature in order to stream Netflix and that disn't work so well. The movies kept dropping due to a lost network signal and then finally could not connect to the internet...
Excerpt: I bought this Blu-Ray player after doing much research. I bought it online during a Black Friday deal and was very happy about the price. Many reviews recommended this player and it got a high rating. Unfortunately I am not happy with this player. I bought it mainly for the built-in-wifi compabilty but the picture is often unclear. The start up is slow but once it get running the connection is fine.
Excerpt: We were needing a new dvd player for the bedroom and decided to go with the Blu-Ray option since an HDTV was also on our list. We got this one at a great price on Black Friday, 2009. And, it works. Most of the time. However, the controls seem to be very sensitive, and it often gets "hung up" in some kind of playback loop when progressing through the previews or menu options on any dvd.
Cons: There is a firmware problem when streaming video. Even though I have 100 up / 100 down fiber optic internet service, netfiix and Vudu buffer while streaming. I switched to a panasonic and it has worked perfectly
Pros: This Blue Ray player has treated me well for 9 months. It connects to the internet via wifi. It plays all dvds and some blue ray disks. It plays the Netflix videos just fine too.
Cons: It skips so much. I mean, it is impossible to make it 20 minutes into a Blue Ray movie without a skip or a freeze. I even put it up on coasters to allow for better and more even air flow around the unit and that didn't help. There is just a flaw in this
Pros: Great 1080 picture and also very good DVD/720 picture quality. Plays all discs. Biggest complaints are the slow response when moving around the menus and apps....and most of all the Wifi. Apparently transceiver is poor, because it cannot pickup a srong s
Cons: Biggest complaints are the slow response when moving around the menus and apps....most of all the Wifi. Apparently transceiver is poor, because it cannot pickup a srong signal that is present in it's location. I wish Samsung would have put a disclaimer o
"Great picture but can't play blu ray discs from Netflix"
4 June 2011
Pros: Great picture. Was able to set up streaming movies from Netflix with no problems.
Cons: After having it for over a year now blu ray discs from Netflix will either 1) won't load 2) loads but then after about 5 minutes of playing the disc it freezes and/or skips making the movie unwatchable.
"WI-FI is unreliable and the upgrades made it worse"
22 May 2011
Pros: great picture quality and easy to use menus
Cons: I use a Netgear router. When using the wireless connection, I have trouble getting online and have to make 2 or more attemps to connect to Netflix. When I reenter my password for the router, then I can reconnect. Every time I get an upgrade for the firmwa
Cons: Right out of the box ran into problems with the video output, when playing a blu ray dvd. Picture was loosing frames it looked like, and was very intermittent. Also would not connect to the home network, didn't debug, given the video problems
