Summary: We've had this blu ray player for about a year now and up until a month ago it was working fine. Unfortunately after doing some research it turns out that samsung blu ray players in general have issues with not playing new blu rays. I tried playing the first Lord of the Rings movie on it and it wouldn't load the disk. I updated the firmware, tried unplugging and replugging, even reset it to factory settings. Still no dice.
Summary: Plays blu-rays badly, with periodic 1-second black screens. Very noisy drive. Very slow response in navigating the various functions. Netflix will not work at all. Not worth the money even if it were free.
Piece of crap!! Freezes part way through EVERY movie!
18 August 2012
Summary: This bluray player overheats ALL the time. Halfway through almost every movie it just stops. Won't respond to commands from the remote or from the console. You can hear it jerking the disc back and forth but nothing happens. Turning off and on doesn't help. Sometimes it even freezes in the menu stage if it has been on for a while. I read another review where someone put a cold pack on it to help with the overheating. A cold pack. Seriously?! It should just work.
Summary: This item boasts Netflix, internet tv, and WiFi ready features. I bought this player (2 of them actually) as gifts for my father and grandfather. They are both retired and we thought Netflix would be great for them to stay busy and entertained. Although this item declares it is "WiFi ready", it is NOT ACTUALLY WiFi ready. You have to purchase the WiFi adapter separately, for what I believe costs somewhere around $50-80!!!!
NOT suitable for other countries - different voltage
5 December 2011
Summary: Never it is stated that this item is NOT a dual voltage item and doesn't support other countries' voltage systems. It even is proclaimed as an item, ready to be shipped to other countries. Must have been a great thing, but I'll never know it, burnt the thing down as soon as i plugged it into the socket. Can't even return it either, as i had it shipped abroad from US.
Summary: Came free with my 52'' Samsung 3D plasma. Otherwise, I wouldn't pay $1 for it. Why is it so bad? It constantly crashes while I'm using the netflix app. The user interface is extremely slow. That means, after every crash (happens once or twice in the evening), it takes 3-4 minutes to turn it off and on. Extremely annoying. The culprit might be the netflix app, but the user experience is horrible regardless of who's to blame.
3 different samsung agents couldn't get this player to connect to internet
rejuvenationmd "rejuvenationmd", Amazon
17 November 2011
Summary: I have probably connected two dozen devices to the internet through my current router (not all at the same time) without problem and almost so seamlessly that I am not sure when it actually connected - just simple and matter of fact sort of way like getting electricity when plugging the electrical plug into the outlet - just that simple and easy. Not so with this Samsung Blu-Ray Player. It could not connect automatically, so I tried to connect manually.
Summary: I am a huge samsung supporter. But i have to say this might be the worst blu ray player i have ever purchased. The unit has stopped working after 4 months of using it. Also, i cant believe the product does not come with wireless capabilities built in. I purchased this unit as part of a 3D bundle. Just overall horrible experience.
