An ok Blu-Ray player

Walmart
10 May 2010
  • Summary: Like I said this is an ok player. It plays the blu-ray as well as regular dvds very good. It takes a minute for it to read and load a blu-ray disc, but that may be normal for this model. It does NOT up-convert regular dvd's. However, your HDTV should make the picture of such... (reg. dvd's sharper etc.) The fact of the matter is...No Blu-Ray player can up-convert regular dvd's. That's just the way it is.

User Review

Walmart
10 May 2010
  • Summary: A little slow loading at times but worth the wait. Great picture and quality for the price. Good way to enter the blu-ray field for not so much money. I like that you can control the tv with the remote as well. That really helps.

Great deal

Walmart
10 May 2010
  • Summary: We had previously purchased a much more expensive player and it broke beyond reasonable repair just after the warranty ran out. We decided this time to go for a less expensive model and this more than met our expectations. It works more easily than the expensive model and the picture quality is still good.

Excellent price; Good performance after firmware update

Bob Drake "BobDrake", Amazon
16 December 2009
  • Summary: I bought this as the BDP-121, a player identical to the 120, sold in Canada and in the US by warehouse stores, for $150 from CompUSA.com. The 121 does not come with a 1 GB flash drive. Until the 11/24/09 Pioneer firmware update the 120/121 refused to play Disney's Snow White BD, but now it does. However I am still having problems accessing Disney's BD Live on the player although I have accessed Warner, Paramount and Sony BD-Live.

A nice player I am pleased with

Charles & Ingrid, Amazon
30 November 2009
  • Summary: This B-R player has been a good purchase. Do make sure to change the setting to 1080 if you have an HD TV. Out of the box it is set to 480i for standard TV resolution. Very easy to go into the menus and change it right away. Makes standard DVDs look better too. Sonically, I don't know how good it sounds because my high-end tower speakers are put away at the moment because of a toddler in the house. I'm just using some small bookshelf speakers for the time being.

Good intro player

Draymond Crawford II, Amazon
15 September 2009
  • Summary: Upon opening the box I saw the normal plastic bag of cables (no HDMI Cable) and remote batteries, along with a 1 gig Sandisk USB thumb drive. On the other side of the box was the remote (very long) that could have been down sized for the limited amount of buttons used to operate. The unit is very lightweight (which I don't hold against it) as many units are these days. The shiny black face (plastic) looks good and matches with the rest of my gear.
