I knew the quality was going to be good. I was not sure of the Oppo as ...

JOSEPH A. GILLIGAN JR., Amazon
13 October 2014
  • Summary: Opted for this instead of spending $500 on the Oppo player. Having had previous Pioneer Elite players, I knew the quality was going to be good. I was not sure of the Oppo as am not familiar with the company. In the Professional setting, hands down beats my Panasonic 3D Blu-Ray Player. This player loses a star for not having onboard wireless and taking a bit of playing with to get to the optimal viewing setting.

Much better picture and sound than my old panasonic blue ray

jackie collis, Amazon
2 July 2014
  • Summary: I purchased the BDP-62 using chase points on my CC. Received it today and im impressed. Much better picture and sound than my old panasonic blue ray. I bought a $50 netgear wireless network connector and it works fine with the unit. I now control my SC-65 and BDP-62 using my ipad. DVD up scaling is almost blue ray quality. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the netflix menu navigation.

Great, when it works

Tutor Turtle, Amazon
7 May 2014
  • Summary: I've owned Pioneer products for 40 years. Their quality is slipping. Too many features to break. The good: great picture on Blu-Ray and standard DVD, sound quality is outstanding. The bad: Too many features to navigate through, to get lost in, to make mistakes in setting features. The Ugly: It won't turn on. AT ALL, dead as a door nail. I have to unplug it wait a minute and plug it back in.

A nice looking heavy duty player

David S, Amazon
9 April 2014
  • Summary: Looks great and performs well on blu ray discs. Stands out in my theater room above the amp, and is a nice NORMAL size, unlike the new players on the market going for that space age look. My only issue is that I do not feel the upconversion is as good as my older Sony bluray, but do love the look and feel of the menu system and performance and much faster load times for menus, and internet items.

I can't get a copy of AVNav to evaluate this answer correctly.

Dissatisfied consumer, Amazon
4 January 2014
  • Summary: AVNav is the configuration App used by Pioneer Electronics through their net-worked devices to configure add-on devices; in my case the SC-1522-K av-receiver. As we all do in product development, we "Borrow" as much as we can to speed production and in this case the Pioneer folk borrowed Internet explorer by Microsoft. Up until Win 8.1 64 in my case one could dumb down the OS to the Apps used by the developers.

superb picture and sound of video/audiophile quality

Leo M. Jackson Jr., Amazon
14 December 2013
  • Summary: This unit meets all my requirements for excellent picture and sound quality. I wish this unit had better access to video streaming via built in Wi-Fi and more choices. I would have rated this unit 5 stars if it had these features. This is a superb unit for movie watching and listening to good music.

Nice

Radoslaw Gawlowski, Amazon
18 March 2013
  • Summary: Typical Upper end player..Not bad. Pioneer needs to drop those skinny remote controls, they suck. No analog 7.1 channel output which is a no no at this price point.

Great 3D Blu-Ray player but only a so,so remote

MusicLover, Amazon
18 March 2013
  • Summary: I checked the reviews on this player on the web and now that I have it I agree it was a great purchase on Amazon($274). I couldn't find the great $199 price that some people found at BB. Everything works great except for the remote which is why it did not get 5 stars. As noted on the web reviews the remote needs to be pointed directly at the play or it is not recognized. Our DVDs look almost as good as Blu-Rays do on my Panasonic plain Blu-Ray player.
