Summary: It's okay for the money. Word to the wise, or owners of older pioneer elite equipment: Pioneer is back to making ridiculously cheap gear again. Elite was suppose to be their return to respectability, and it was for many years. This unit clearly shows their return to chintzy, just like the 80's. It works, I saved money, and I'm not sure what a couple of hundred more dollars would have gotten me (Oppo). Probably not much more.
It's no "OPPO" that's for sure!!!, but good for what it is.

Summary: First off, This is a good Blu-ray disc player, I purchased it at a Best Buy on sale for $199, which was a great deal. It is definitely a step above your average $150 BDP. Problem is, it isn't worth the price they are asking. For $400...are you kidding me? You can get an OPPO BDP for a little bit more, and have a far superior player with better customer service.
Summary: This is my 5th Code Free DVD player. The brand PIONEER was once a top-of-the-line high-end product. That was then, this is now. PROS: 1) Picture quality is very good. 2) Deck appearance is very good with great rubber feet pads. 3) Deck has enough weight as to not slip/slide when inserting a disc. 4) Load time for a Blu-Ray is better than most. 5) Built-in NTSC/PAL converter. CONS: 1) Miserable remote with micro-sized buttons. Impossible to see sometimes.
