Partial blu ray

James L., Amazon
12 March 2012
  • Summary: Finicky. This player took forever to set up and would not play 3D movies out of the box. Calls to service were futile, and the fix to get it working was actually found in an online forum, which involved digging into the myriad setup menus mixed with good-old-fashioned trial and error.

some problems with playback

a reviewer, Amazon
29 December 2011
  • Summary: This is the only SACD player I could find that costs below $200. However, it doesn't recognize all of my SACD discs. For example, Kleiber's "Beethoven Symphonies Nos. 5 & 7", a Hybrid-SACD is not recognized as a CD at all, much less a SACD. The player displays an "Unknown Disc" error message.

Best mid level 3d player

sam abraham, Amazon
19 December 2011
  • Summary: This player plays wide range of audio/video without compromising the quality. If you dont care about internet apps, this player is the best player in its class. I have owned panasonic bd-85 and sony bx-58. So, i am comparing with those. It has very few connections. I use only hdmi out, so dont care.

Pioneer is always Excellent.

Lord Mortimer Roxbrough, Amazon
28 June 2014
  • Summary: A wonderful piece of kit that plays just about every format in existence. The picture is absolutely pin sharp and beautifully etched. Sound is also excellent. The only gripe is the fiddly remote, with tiny button and pale graphics, but this is not so much a negative once you know your way around it.

works well

95rocketman, Amazon
5 September 2012
  • Summary: The BD-140 works well for both Bluray and DVD. It has two internet apps, Picasa and YouTube, which I just played with quickly. They seem capable. One thing that surprised me a bit was the width of the player. For some reason Pioneer made it quite wide.

Cracking little player for the price

luke bass, Amazon
13 June 2012
  • Summary: Bought this to go with an older Pioneer AV amp and to replace an upscalng DVD payer. Remote control is a geeks dream, a bit fiddly but pretty intuitive to use. Wouldn't bother with the Internet features to be honest, this is a bit limited (YouTube and Picasa) and you can get much more with a decent...

Pioneer BDP-140

Drummer, Amazon
18 April 2012
  • Summary: Excellent performance playing back Blu-Ray discs. Could be quicker loading the disc but my other Sony Blu-Ray players take a similar length of time loading. Picture quality is first class even standard DVDs look better! A first rate player, would highly recommend.

Good value for money

MattChr, Amazon
23 January 2012
  • Summary: I've seen a few earlier blu-ray players owned by friends and family. The picture is clear and makes a good job of upscaling DVDs. It's quick to load up and very quick to respond to remote commands (much better than earlier models or cheaper brands). For once, a functional remote that's easy to use!
