Summary: This blu-ray player came very well packaged. It took a little longer then I would have expected for it to start working, but once it did it produced a great quality picture. The fan seems to run a bit loud when its left on.
Decent but I found at least one movie it won't play until a firmware update

Summary: ]I've owned this unit for a few months now and it works like it should however I contacted Philips to make aware that the newer release from Disney "Bedtime Stories" will not play the main feature.
Summary: If your receiver lacks ability to tweak 5.1 this unit will let you. Very satisfactory for first BDP. Dark Knight was beautiful in PQ and AQ (5.1 trumped coax) When the robbers baned open the double doors leading to the vault I got my first (but not last) taste of BD sound through the couch and into...
Pros: Delivers BD PQ at great price, has 5.1 analog outs which I preferred but coax as well ( when A-B'd the analogs had much punchier sub, surprising array of settings for video and especially audio. They even vented the case for cooling. Dimmable front panel lighting. SD DVD upscaling was as good as ...
Cons: Only has resume lay on certain discs, the FF and REW search are not super smooth but will do. Hey Phillips! the way we use our playbackunits- is with the play button between the FF and REW search buttons-NOT Next and PREV chapter buttons. Remote not lighted but I'm learning by touch. Remote is lo...
Summary: I purchased the Phillips HDMI cable from another place coupled with Toshiba 40" LCD, I could not be more happier!! Lose the load time and the footprint, this would have been a 5 egger without a doubt!
Pros: Great picture quality. Upconverting regular DVDs is quite amazing. My first Blue Ray movie I bought was the Dark Knight. Words could discribe how wonderful the clarity was that this player presented them. The menu functions are intuitive and thoughtout.
Cons: It does have a LARGE footprint no doubt! But its ok, its not hurting anything. The load times do seem slow, but this is the only Blue Ray player I have ever owned, but compared to my Sony DVD player, there is a definite difference.
Summary: This has been a great machine after 11 months of use. It has been reliable and has played all of my titles without glitches. It bitstreams Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HDMA to my Onkyo audio reciever. I was and am still very pleasantly surprised by this machine. Kudos to Philips.
Summary: Contrary to another reviewer's comments, the player DOES resume playback after stop. However, there are two variations on this model identified by /37 and /F7. I have the F7, which may account for the difference in performance.
Pros: This machine outputs stunning sound and video and has many optional adjustable functions through various menus accessed via the remote.
Cons: It has a large footprint. Another famous brand player is about half the size, but unless you are really cramped for space, then in this situation size doesn't matter. Bootup is somewhat slow but no slower than my HD player. What's the hurry, anyway? From power-on to playback takes about 70 seconds.
