Summary: It's a great high quality and cheap product but has some hiccups, in short: PLUSES: -reads all DivX and xvid files so far, all subtitles files as well -nice design, -reads external drives, -fast USB 2.0 -despite the manual it reads .mkv and .mp4 BUT will not recognise DivX HD codec or MP4 sound, basically if you have MKV coded with x264 and AC3 sound - no problem, but .mkv with DivX HD codec will play only sound, and with regular .mp4 file you'll get picture with no...
Summary: Can't really say too much but initial response to this is positive. The instructions for setting up were straight forward so much so that even the wife could follow them (I didn't rally say that!!!!!). This was purchased as an early Xmas Present so ticked the boxes on all fronts i.e. It arrived in plenty of time before Christmas which gave time to set it up and use it over the seasonal period.
Summary: THE PLAYER WORKS FINE, THE PROBLEM I FOUND WAS THAT IT DID NOT RECOGNIZE A NUMBER OF USB STICKS I HAD LYING AROUND MY HOUSE EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE AS REQUIRED FAT32 FORMATTED. I WAS ABLE TO SHOW MY PICTURES ON THE TV EVENTUALLY AFTER FINDING ONE THAT WORKED OK. BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND AS TO THE REASON WHY THAT PARTICULAR USB STICK WORKED WHEN THE OTHERS DID NOT.
Summary: With the latest firmware update to allow for playback off a usb stick it makes better use for bd-live as well if you leave 1GB free but you would probably want 4GB+ memory stick to use it for both.
Pros: fast loading, good upscaling
Cons: need of an ethernet cable and memory stick for bd-live
Excerpt: "...is the cheapest of the Philips range of Blu-Ray players, but it is also BDP 2.0, so you access the latest special features via the internet (as well as update the firmware) through an ethernet cable (remember to buy one). Be aware that you do need to put at least a 1GB memory stick in the back to access these features, as unlike more expensive models it does not have any memory built in. However, if you are like me and are more concerned with the ...
Pros: 2 . 0 compatible, good looking, easy to use remote, good connectivity for price, excellent price .
Cons: No optical sound output, no HDMI or ethernet cables included, need memory stick for 2 . 0
