Summary: With the latest firmware update to allow for playback off a usb stick it makes better use for bd-live as well if you leave 1GB free but you would probably want 4GB+ memory stick to use it for both. Worth buying
Pros: fast loading, good upscaling
Cons: need of an ethernet cable and memory stick for bd-live

24 March 2010
Summary: I had a problem with this blu-ray player when I found I couldn't upgrade the software via a USB drive formatted on a Mac. It worked fine via ethernet, but connecting it to my router was difficult, so not being able to do it via USB was a major pain.
Firmware upgrade for Philips BDP3000 Blu-ray player

Summary: Like others reviewing this player, I found that it wouldn't play some of my existing DVDs. For others it was Miss Marple or the Two Towers, for me it was the new series of Doctor Who (oddly it would play the old ones).
Summary: Initial impressions positive - it's a good weight (some more expensive players feel very flimsy) with a classy minimalsit look to it. Plug it in and it's a cinch to install no problems with the HDMI security "handshake" that means I can wait for a while before my Foxsat and telly try and talk to...
Summary: Though the styling is a little dated the BDP-3000 is a great player with lots of features and quality playback. Audio is also superb and makes your living room rumble :) Other than that, I see much info to hack the DVD regions of the player but is it not possible to do the same for Blu-Ray discs?
Summary: I bought this player two days ago from a high street retailer after reading excellent reviews. I've had no problems with existing dvds so far and all was fine until I tried Terminator Salvation on blu-ray which loaded only as far as the menu stage.
Summary: Can't really say too much but initial response to this is positive. The instructions for setting up were straight forward so much so that even the wife could follow them (I didn't rally say that!!!!!). This was purchased as an early Xmas Present so ticked the boxes on all fronts i.e.
Summary: It's a great high quality and cheap product but has some hiccups, in short: PLUSES: -reads all DivX and xvid files so far, all subtitles files as well -nice design, -reads external drives, -fast USB 2.0 -despite the manual it reads .mkv and .mp4 BUT will not recognise DivX HD codec or MP4 sound,...
