Summary: I have had this blu-player for a year now, i have had no problems with reliability, picture quality is decent however occasionally the picture freezes for a split second, my biggest gripe is the noise the player makes which is annoying during quiet parts of a film. I'm currently searching for a blu-ray player that is quiet during play back.
The Blu-ray player that doesn't like DVDs or Blu-rays - BDP3000
18 November 2012
Excerpt: "...from my experience with the Philips BDP3000 Blu-ray player this seems to be the case. My wife bought me the Blu-ray player a few Christmas's ago from Sainsburys using a combination of her vast collection of Nectar points and cash. It was originally selling for around £120 and Sue had bought it at a point when it had dropped by about 1/3 of its original selling price as newer models were appearing in store. Blu-ray machines are still relatively new ...
Pros: Tempermentally will play DVDs and Blu - rays
Summary: I never write product reviews, but for this piece of trash, I felt like I had to. I warn you all now, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! It worked for the first couple of months without any hitches. Now it struggles to read a single Blu-Ray disc. Everytime it reads "Unknown Disc" STAY AWAY!!!
Worked for 6 months, then stopped palying certain Blu Rays

Summary: Bought this as my first Blu Ray Player. I should have known not to buy a Phillips one as I had a DVD player of theirs that quit after 6 months, as this one almost has. Terrible load times and now won't play certain Blu Rays it used to play before. Updated the firmware, still no joy. Do not buy this or any Phillips model.
Summary: I first reviewed this product when I had the first one delivered - before it went wrong! A replacement unit was sent and low and behold, this unit failed in the same way. Utter rubbish Blu-Ray player. The machine is totally incapable of reading a disk and starts, stutters then stops. The first unit just collapsed in a heap electronically and would not even vomit up my disk - still not been returned!
Summary: Brought it early 2011, now it has stopped working altogether, all disks come up with error message unknown disk. This would seem to be quite a common problem for this make from what I have read on the Internet. Would not recommend buying it even without this happening. It was very slow and took ages just to eject a disk.
The Philips BDP3000 is a much better bet, as the BDP3100 appears to be a dodgy batch

Summary: Well what a shame, it was good while it lasted, which wasn't very long. I like Philips, but if I was going to get a replacement, I don't think I would want it to be this model again. Treated it perfectly well while it worked, and one evening while watching a DVD, it just suddenly went off and stopped working altogether, just like that, and never regained consciousness. I have tried every possible remedy, like checking fuses, all plugs and sockets.
