Summary: Works fine but even when using an ethernet cable Netflix still runs slow. So I really don't use Netflix as I thought I would. But this was purchased for a kids room so it will be used mostly for DVDs. Still a good item for the price paid. When It mentioned WIFI I didn't know I would have to buy a WIFI adapter or have an ethernet cable. So I couldn't hook it up until the next day after I brought the cable.
Summary: This device is one of those Black Friday specials. It seems the device was made to sell like hot cakes during that season, and thus Walmart, and other stores sell it dirt cheap. So the Good, cheap cheap cheap, I bought mine at good will for 3 bucks, The Bad it's slow, and the Ugly incredibly frustrating to get this thing to function. So whats wrong with this device. Cheaply made parts, lack of quality parts in manufacturing. Can it be fixed, YES!!!!
Summary: The good news is that the machine works with Region 1 and Region 2 DVD and Blu-Ray A and B (these are the only ones I have to test having just moved from England back to the US) out of the box. If it does not flip over to the correct BluRay region, it is a very simple matter, three key strokes, to switch to the region you want. (i.e. Region A for BluRay is simply 1+1+Power and that is it.
Summary: where in the name of God do I get the goddamned "dongle" so I can use the damn wifi????? I've would've had better luck tracking down a leprechaun... 4-29-12: After further review, apparently you need a Philips brand dongle, which happens to cost $60.00. Do yourself a favor and just spend the extra money on a device that has either the adapter included or has it built in. I have invested $130.00 so far and wish I had just bought the Vizio.
Summary: Does what you would expect it to and it seems a good price for a basic Blu ray player with a few added extras for a very reasonable price. Main gripe: There is a bit of a delayed reaction between pressing a button and something happening on screen. Spec: + 1080p at 24 fps for cinema-like images + DVD video upscaling to 1080p via HDMI for near-HD images + DivX Plus HD Certified for high-definition DivX playback + Subtitle Shift for widescreen without any missing subtitles...
